Pulsating screeches in the background

Hello all!

I am running both a server, and a client connected to the server. I ran the voice test, and when I speak, there is always a pulsating 'waaaaa' sound that gets continuously louder and louder until i let go of the "Talk" button. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

are you sure only the mic is selected as recording source ?

Yes. I found that I was getting that continuous buildup of feedback because the speakers were causing that horrible infinite loop through the microphone. I knew that's what caused an echo, but since I didn't have one I didn't think that was the problem. Had to use a headset.
