IS there a way to disable the peoples microphones on your channel if you want to make an announcement etc?

No easy way at the moment.
In a moderated channel you can take away all voice rights from all users and then put them back in place again after your announcment. Not very comfotable.
In a not moderated channel there is currently no possibility to mute people.
But it is a good suggestion. A channel mute function that mutes eveyone but CA and SA.
Maybe you should put that up to the suggestion section.
