i untared the server and tried to start it, but i only get "permission denied"s with the server_linux and with the startscripts too. i did a chown root and chmod 777 on the whole dir, no effect.

my os is a debian linux with some newer 2.x kernel, but it got a little screwed when i did an update once, so any hints?

edit:

well i copied it on my main partition (from /mnt/...) and now it works... so why's that?

Make sure you don't use a '--DB=/location/file' direction in the server_linux ... I tried that.. it hangs on it.

before logging in as admin via the client, try logging in as admin via the webtool, that helped for me to configure my client account to get to admin status :)

The "permission denied" that gets fixed when you move the files to another partition might be because the first partition was mounted with an option to disable executing files from that partition. I know the option is available but I don't know any details about it.
