Basic Question For You

Ok i have had my server running for a bit and it is a win32 i was wondering i see some other win32 have letters in there IP I:E something.kicks-ass.net ??? i was wondering how i can add letters to my IP too please and suggestions?

These are not letters in the IP. These are domain names. Domain names are aliases for IP's that are translated automaitcally to IP's.

You can register your own domain names. The problem is that your IP normaly is always changing (Depending on what type of service you get from your ISP).

For that cases there are services like DynDNS (http://www.dyndns.org/). There your can register a domain in the form myname.dyndns.org for free. You can also register domains like my-clan.kicks-ass.com (As long as they are not occupied by someone else) there but that costs money.
There you can also download update tools that automatically update your domain name with your current IP. If you have a router then it may support that out of the box. Just read your router manual how to configure it for DynDNS (you must register a domain first of cause). Then you do not need the update tools.
