View Full Version : Away prod
Currently if I am away but sort of idling I mute mic, headset and set as 'away'. Mostly so I don't have to listen to any endless chatter thats going on. The problem occurs when someone wants to get through to me. With everything muted I don't even hear fellow admins randomly moving me around in a vain attempt to get my attention. I would love to see something implemented so that someone could 'ping' me once (and once only) with an unobtrusive noise to get my attention. All the best - Tink

Yes some kind of option where you can allow ping tones and specify how often you may resceive them (once every x seconds) would be great.
1) Away is for people that are away.
2) If they're not away, they shouldn't be setting away
3) If you dont want to hear things you mute sound. If you do want to hear sound, you unmute.
4) TeamSpeak is for talking. If you do not want to talk or listen, you shouldn't be connected to a server.
So if you ask me, you're just asking for things that are completely unnecessary. Stuff like these things get requested often. And it's out of laziness. "Can TeamSpeak do the dishes for me?" No, it can't and it won't.

Its a bit more than just for lazyness here.
Sometimes I am in a channel and I don't want to participate or hear anything there. So I mute MIC and Sound. I am there but no one can reach me. Sometimes I want do be reached by some persons.
In that case I can just turn on my stereo or get on my headset, put TS in the background and they can send me a ping tone. Then I can look who send it and open sound and mic if I want to talk to them.
This functionality can not be simulated by the current mute/away system.
Couldn't you just create/go to an unregistered channel/subchannel and sit there? If anyone really wants to talk to you, they'll have to go to your channel, otherwise you won't hear them talking.

Yes that would be possible, bit:
1. No one would see me in the channel I am usually in (So I could directly set myself to away).
2. I have no control if I may get spammed (And there can be really annoying and presitent types of persons). Ok I can mute him but integrated spam contol would be nice.
Also features that support the lazyness of people are not bad per se. In fact they can improve the user friendlieness of a program in many cases (But not in all cases I must admit).
The requested feature would not be so useful in gaming but if you use TS as an IRC like system then I think it has its uses.
