View Full Version : All superadmin options
All the TS options should be available to to be selected for each group (SA/CA/V/R).
This way I can configure each option according to my needs. F.ex jr Admins need to be able to drag members into a jr Admin room.
Right now the only way to do that is to make them SA which is not acceptable.

The problem is that R and SA are server specific and O and CA are channel specific. So they cannot all have all options available.
But it was already suggested to have another server specific group besides R and SA.
So change it.
I mean you really don't want to limit the users ability to use the product. That's just poor design.
Realize that 99% of the users run some sort of channel of command. Let them delegate it as needed.
If you coded yourself into a corner then add more sub groups under SA and CA.
That's just poor design.Stong words for someone with such a tiny post count. Are you a coder yourself? Most designers and coders realize that there will always be roadbloacks and issues that are not possible to forsee. CA rights were designed to be channel specific for a reason. This is not a flame; just a reminder that this software is breaking new ground all the time and there is none better.
Having an intermediate admin group similar to SA would be the best solution. For that, this thread deserves a bump.
Well let's see. I started programming in 1975 or so. Used to own a programming bureau for a number of years and have coded in some 15 languages. Which has nothing to do with anything, just as the post count have nothing to do with anything.
Design is something that I'm sure you know happens before a single line of code is written. Thus, the flow of a program is thought out before it's written.
Now don't get me wrong, I think TS is a great product!
It is however, at least in my opinion, best to try to offer as much flexibility as is possible. Not to limit functionality by incorporating a design that does so.
And if I don't make a point of what I think should be there then it's less likely to happen. Have nothing to do with what has been done either. There just happen to be a need to have multiple levels of access.
My hat off to the team for an otherwise great product!
Sorry Sszmidt. There are so many folks who hop onto these boards to complain without really understanding things. Again, sorry for jumping on you.
A new admin group bound to the entire server would allow this functionality. It seems possible to fit this feature into a near future build. I suspect that everyone would need a new client as well though. Our server is getting huge and we really need to be able to assign certain privileges (like moving other players) without giving everyone SA privileges.
I hope the devs put this on their shortlist.

CA and O are channel specific by definition. You cannot make them server specific.
It's true that the rights management system of TS is in my option very limited but the original intention was not to create a rights management system but a game voice system.
A complete rights management system with free defineable user groups, individual user rights and maybe ACL is much more complex and would have taken much more time to be implemented.
But since this was not the main goal of TS, I think the developers did coose a much easier to implement system that seemed adequate at that point of the development.
So it is not poor design but more a priority descision.
