i have a linksys router with two computers connected to it....one is the server and other is a client...You will have to configure a port forwarding for port 8767 UDP at the router. Read your router manual how to do this (I think LinkSys calls this VirtualServer). Do not forget that within your LAN you have to use your LAN (internal) IP of the TS Server and not your WAN (external) IP to connect.
If you want more info about this do a serach for "Port Forwarding" here in the forum.
I don't know LinkSys routers so I can not give you any more info here (I think there is a post somewhere here that describes the process of setting up the port forwarding on a LinkSys router).

both computers use xp pro...Since you use Windows XP make sure that the build in firewall of XP is disabled or port 8767 is opened. This is also true for any other firewall you may use.
i do need to appologize for posting at client section instead of server section....oops....anyhow, i did play with it for awhile longer and was able to get both computers behind router to work.....now, as soon as brother installs client we will see for sure.....i went into router and opened up 8767 port as udf or whatever and both computers were able to login....i had login issues....kept giving me invalid username and or password errors....i did it right on username and such but kept getting errors....after opening up that port in router on forwarding page, both computers were able to login.....then i set up my brother as a client in admin browser page like i did with both computers and we will see what happens....thanx for help....i may need some more but still waiting for slow poke brother to finialize problems....
oh, forgot to ask.....how much bandwidth or how much of my broadband is being used up for serving?? will i be able to serve and play mohaa online at same time?? just curious.....
i thought i did it right.....my friends cant connect to it....i opened up the port in router (8767 in port forwarding page and selected enabled) and set them up as client through web page....gave them the login name and password to use but still no go........am confused on web page says server password and clients have password....now, i could not login using server password but was able to login using the client password....confusing...so i went back to web page for server settings and made server password blank....it doesnt seem to do anything.....i do understand that both computers behind the router are connecting but everyone else seems not to be able to connect....which leaves me to believe either my ts ip that im giving them is incorrect or my router wont let them in......do i use the ip that router assigned for that computer or the actuall ip that the router gets from isp?? cause i know people can see that address but cant get through to the ones the router addresses.....also, do i port trigger this port or port forwarding this port??? i know gamespy wants you to port trigger certain ports so that it doesnt time-out, basically, work right........it didnt work right till i did so, is this where i open the port or port forward?? my router has so many port pages, upnp port forwarding page, port triggering page, forwarding page......wait.....someone just entered.....nobody i know.....so does that me you can and my friends arent doing it right?

One thing...
Please use your Enter key. This would increase the readability of your posts very much.
IP to use: Your friends have to connect to your external IP that is assigned to you by your ISP. That is the IP that you see when you visit http://www.myip.com/.
From within your LAN you have to use the LAN IP of the computer that is running your TS server.
Port Triggers: Port Triggers are normaly not necessary for TS.
Can connect local but no one else: The problem is most likely the router / port forwarding config.
Recheck your port forwarding. The protocol has to be UDP. The IP you entered has to be the LAN IP of the computer that runs the TS server.
What error message do your friends get when they try to connect?
moved post to Server - Windows
thanx for moving my post and giving help.
working fine now. it was my dumb butt trying to give friends my internal ip instead of external. your right, my computers behind firewall need internal ip and external pcs need the external ip to connect. i see how it works now. the port forwarding allows the external ip connection to connect through to internal ip with the port udp configure i have made in router. i even configured the two optional ports for clan leader to use admin page from web.
your guy's support is great, keep up the good work.
