I am pretty new to TS, and I have been reading through posts with frustrated moderators dealing with stupid questions in the wrong place. I am in the general forum, but I don't see anywhere else to post my question. Please tell me if this should be posted somewhere else.

In the meantime: I am trying to figure out a way to play a custom wave file on channel entry. For example instead of saying "Switched Channel" I want to say "Coalition" or "Opposition" or "Squadron 1" so players can (in game with hot keys) cycle through channels until they get to the desired channel (and know they are in the desired channel with some form of feedback from the server). Is this possible? If not, is there another way to accomplish what I want to accomplish (have a player in game be able to cycle through channels and know which channel they are entering each time they press the cycle channel hot key)?

Thanks in advance for your assistance and patience.

Hi,

your post totaly qualifies as a good post, and the forum is correct, so dont worry. But good that I didnt write all that stuff for nothing, but actualy people read it and learn how to ask good questions like yours :D.

Now about your questions:

Currently it is not possible to create custom sounds for channel joins (its always the same sound thats played). There are some on-display tools around though, that will display some (very little) information about a running teamspeak session on-top of your game - making it possible to see it while gaming.
You might want to have a look at those (im not sure if they currently display the channelname, but even if they dont, just point the author to your needs and kindly ask him for a option to display it :D).

This was the plugin I meant:

Excellent. I will check out the add on. I assume it is some kind of transparent HUD type overlay. The solution I have come up with so far is to use my laptop, and have my laptop (next to me) logged in as an admin. As an admin I can push people from sub-channel to sub-channel, and with a "transmit to channel family" key everyone can send requests whether they are in my sub-channel or not. That works pretty good and no-one has to alt-tab out of game to move around. Also binding the keys to specific channels works too. All in all it is not un-workable as is, but the channel identifier would not be a bad feature to add in future upgrades (my two cents anyway).

Also, I ran into a problem tonight. I was playing around with granting and revoking admin priveleges. I accidentally revoked the admin priveleges of my main admin account. Now, when I log in as admin it won't allow me to restore or use my own priveleges from the console. I tried to use the web site admin, but it won't take my login name and password now. Any ideas? Anyway to reset password? If there is a private way I can send you more (server specific) info, let me know. It just occured to me that this might be an issue for my host. Well, I'll give this a try first.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

well,

if you made this server, you propably have a superadmin account + password (from the logfile), you can use that on the webadmin or on the telnet (but not on the client), to login and fix whatever you need fixing.
If you dont have access to any teamspeak accounts that might be able to restore your privileges, you have to do it the hard way (you need access to the box running the teamspeak server for this), either just reset the whole ts2 server by deleteing the database, or the more compicated (but less drastic) editing the database to change your pass (or just add a new user for yourself).
