I found my problem: The libHVDI.so.0.8.0 and libspeex.so.1.0.0 files won't work on an AMD K6-2.

I got it to work by swapping in the debian-compiled libspeex and grabbing the libHVDI.so from this...

Some more information:

~/.teamspeak2/TSClient.log contains the line:
