Sounds to me like you should go to TS3 > Settings > Options > playback (tab) and change the playback device to your laptop speakers and not the Headset.

You have to subscribe to the channels to see into them. If you do not, than you will not see anyone.

The only way i can think of is if you created server groups. But this will only be for that one server AND you have to have the correct powers to do so.
