Unhappy Mic either muted or on all the time.

Running Redhat 9 and using kmix and aumix I have an intel 810 soundcard using the following modules.

    i810_audio 27624 1
    ac97_codec 14568 0 [i810_audio]
    soundcore 6404 2 [i810_audio]

I have tried both voice activated and setting up a key which I prefer, in either case and trying everything I can in kmix and aumix I can simply not get TS to work, the mic is either on all the time or off all the time.

    It get's better though:

I can not hear any of the sounds played for example when I connect to a server, other than TS the sound card works fine.

Now that's if i set it to use Default Network which allows me to use it and the game, if I set it to use /dev/dsp the mic and headphones are muted and can not be unmuted.

lsof | grep dsp returns nothing when TS is not running.

I am not using artsd and am running Blackbox.

I have spent the last 24hrs strait trying to find a solution on these forums and searching Google with no succes.
