Strange connection problem... please help.
Ok,
First off, I am running a copy of the Server on a static IP (and have a sub domain pointing to it) on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server off a T1.
Many of my guild mates can connect just fine, and I could always connect just fine... Until today.
I usually have a VPN connected between here and my office, which is where the servers are... and while the VPN is connected I can connect with TS no problem...
I disconnect the VPN and the server stops responding.
I have a couple other friends that cannot accesss the server as well, with the same message... We all have something in common: we are all using a router at our homes that uses DHCP.
I am assuming that this is causing the problem, though am not sure how to fix it.
I can ping both the subdomain and the ip no problem while the VPN is off, and a traceroute returns only 3 hops (same provider for my cable modem and T1 at the office).
I can connect when I disconnect my router and force a static ip from the cable company... but when I hook the router back up, the connection fails.
Now, this is a problem as many people use routers... and it seems this is a wide problem - not just me. Anybody out there have any input on this?
I do not want to give VPN access to any of my guild mates, for obvious reasons...
Any help appreciated.

Similar problem
I, too, connect to work from time to time and cannot log onto the TS server unless I do, even though everyone else in the guild can. It's a real problem for me because my wife and I play at the same time. since we're coming from the same IP address, we both have to tunnel and the server gets confused. All the conversations are echoed.
We really need to be able to connect normally. PLEASE HELP!

I feel your pain
I also have the same problem you do.Everyone can connect but me and am also behind a dsl router. All my configs are right TS just don't like DSL routers.Funny thing is when I was using a larger server I was paying for it worked fine cause it was thier servers.Plus I got all the support in the world from them.
If you find a solution let me know.

Could it be a NAT related problem ? => bindthe TS server to it IP (see FAQ: not all can connect)
Or is it a timeout problem (see log's) ?
@vashfish
Yu both are behind the same router and can't connect to the same TS server in parallel ? Why do you have to tunnel (what do you understand under tunneling in this case ?) ? We use the same TS server at home with up to three PC's behind a Zyxel router since many year without any problem.
If I remember right, we had reports in the forum where people had the same problem as you have. I'd say this smells like a router problem (in case you use a D-Link, we've a lot of threads dealing / complaints with such routers, seems like they have quite a few firmware problems)

Well, I've discovered a workaround, though I have no idea why it works.
First, I reset my cable modem so I would get a new IP address. The first time I did this, I was able to connect to TS without going through VPN.
Then, the next time I started up my computer it still wouldn't connect (the message is "No response from server"). Instead of connecting through VPN, I logged into the Remote Web Workplace and connected to one of the computers at work via the web browser. After closing the browser (again, still not connected through VPN), I was able to connect to TS just fine.
I have to do this each time I start up my computer at home, but at least my 6mbps cable connection is no longer bottlenecked by the T1 VPN connection anymore.

18-07-2006, 01:41 #6I was going to add to this by saying that I had someone unable to connect. But he was connected just fine the previous night. We went through every littel possible thing. Made sure firewalls were properly set to allow the correct port to be open. Did everything. Last thing I had him do was unplug both his rougter and modem. Wait a couple seconds for it to reset. and plug in the modem first then the rougter. Worked like a charm. I'm still trying to figure out why this happens. But for some reason at random, your rougter and modem lock out teamspeak from working.
