Router Question
I am currently running 2 systems 1 with Windows XP and the other with windows 98SE
Currently I am using ICS to allow both systems to access the internet via a cable modem.
this however poses a problem with Teamspeak. I cannot run it on my secondary system meaning I must run it on the same system I game with.
I have decided to buy a router and since I really don't know alot alot about routers and I am getting one specifically because of Teamspeak, I am wondering if the users here might have a recommendation.
Brand? Wired or Wireless? Any help is fully appreciated.
Thanx in advance.

Almost any router that is designed for Cable/DSL use should work. How ever I would first check with your Cable provider. If they do not recommend a router (Or they will not support it...Normaly because they want you to pay more for having more computers on there service) Then you may want to find out if other people localy are able to use a router.
You will also need the router to have port forwarding function or Virtural Server function. This will be needed so you can port your external IP to your internal TS server IP and vise versa.
Now some Cable providers will control your connection by using the MAC address that your current PC has and not allow any other MAC address to connect thought the cable modem. Higer end routers have a function to get around this by Cloning or masking your current MAC address.
I have used only two brands of Routers and have have really good success with both (Linksys BEFSX41 and TRENDnet TEW-311BRP). The first one is not wireless and the second one is.
as far as wireless and wired goes, it depends on your planned use for the router. If you plan on playing games I would not use wireless (sound vs. light Light will allways be faster). If you plan on useing wireless in the near future then there are rouers that have both wireless and wired and they would be the best choice in that case.

Thank you for your response. I was already leaning towards linksys and since this is all about gaming, I will go with a wired version rather than wireless.
