    Sound Breaking Up

Ok, we were doing some testing the other day. We set up a TS2 server on Win2k server. It seemed like the more people we had connect, the worse things got. Basically everyone was experiencing BAD sound choppyness and break up. Basically you would get every other word someone was saying.

With 2 people it was ok, three it started to break up, and by the time we had 6, no one could understand anything.

We run out TS1 server on this same machine with 15 people connected and everything runs great.

    Any ideas?

    Samekind of problem here too!!!!

We have Win2000-server running also in same machine with TS1.5. I have checked pings of users when sound is breaking and those are hundress.

Ok you think it could be server-hardware or connection problem. But i think it isnt, tracerout give normal pings arounds 30ms and we have surely enough bandwith to every user in bouth TS- server.

TS2 server is reset every day morning. Now it seems that every third evening is choppy and after morning reset pings and sound are normal.

    HELP!

OK, we tested and have taken away TS1.5 server and using only TS2 server now three days and so far no server problems.

Sorry but i dont know exact specs of our server and i am not a specialist in serverthings.... But could it be some conflicts in Win2000 server using same time both TS servers.

    Thumbs down

Ok it wasnt maybe conflict with 1.5. Now its worked fine 3 days and today its same lag than earlier. So every players pings were about or under 30ms those good days and now those pings are over four hundred. And thats why sound is chopping so bad that it is now no sense to use it. Tomorrow everything will be just ok again i am sure. This has been tested now four times. And server provider is sure that its not problem in their side.

    Thaks for you replies beforehand.

my dilemma is similar to the people above... having run the TS1 server for ages from my clan -- we have found TS2 unusable because of sound break-ups

    Dedicated Server System:
    Duron 700, win98 - no sound card
connnect to cable via a realtek 10/100 NIC thru a linksys router (BEF3xxx from memory)

the above ran TS1 beautifully for 25+ people without me lagging out playing Tribes2 on the same cable connection

    BUT

TS2 with any more than 6 people on is unusable -- we even tried getting everyone on the lowest bandwidth codec (win 5.1 right??) but to no success after 3 attempts

we are back using the TS1 server again --- TS2 looks fantastic and i love all the extra features -- is that is what is cuasing the problem tho --- it checking and re-checking the user details??

Tried this patch on the clients?

    http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/show...&threadid=1470

Mayeb it will solve your problems.

What kind of bandwitdh do you have and what codec do you use.

The default channels default codec is gsm16.4, which uses about 4 times as much bandwidth as ts1. To get the same bandwidth usege as ts1, use the windows celp codec (last in the list)

btw we found one member has a recurring "softening" of his sound

he will start off loud and then the signal will soften over about 10 sec and then get back to full volume -- and it cycles over and over again

what info do i need to give you ---- it WAS on the latest patch and drivers for whatever s'card he was using btw
