Mic no like
Short Version:
Before installing Team Speak mic works on two different machines.
After installing TS client mic no longer works.
Each machine has the latest drivers.
Tried a different sound card and headset on my machine, with no change in problem.
After uninstalling TS on one machine problem remains, haven't had time to uninstall it from the other machine.
Currently at wits end.
Long Version:
I have been unable to get my mic working since I have installed team speak. I am using the onboard sound on a Abit IS7 board and the mic port did work on it before I installed TS. Win XP pro and I have all of the latest drivers installed since 4-10-04. I can hear other people on TS, but am unable to use the Mic. Local test mode does not work for me, MS sound recorder does not pic any sound from the mic as well. I have checked all of my settings and the mic is selected and is not muted. I then installed a SB 128 PCI soundcard that I know to be good and encountered the same problem. Next, I tried a different headset, again same problem no sound from the mic is being picked up.
I work in computer support and I don't think I was missing anything, so I had my brother-in-law, (who also works in omputer support) to look at it. He was unable to find a solution either. At this point we both think it is a software problem.
What happens next is that after me intorducing him to TEAm Speak, he installs the server on his game server and the client on his laptop. Which works fine, but later that night he installed the client on his workstation and has encountered the exact same problme that I have. He has since uninstalled Team Speak, but the problem remains.
EDIT: I now some of the ABit IS7 borad had problems with the Mic prot, but it did work before TS was insatleld.

I concur, this sounds a lot like a software problem.MS sound recorder does not pic any sound from the mic as well
If you try the MS sound recorder (with TS installed of course) directly after booting without starting TS, does it still not work?

Tried that no such luck.
I think I'm going to reinstall the OS and check between each app I install to see if I can figure out which one is causing the problem.

With all of the threads on mic problems I'm suprised not to see a thread in the FAQ on this problem or am I missing it?

Just so you don't miss a few options:
- Have you made sure the microphone is selected as the input device, isn't muted and it's volume slider is set at a high level?
- Do the computers that go haywire with TS have one identical hardware component that could be the fault?
- It seems you're having trouble on some computers you're personally are using. Are there any extra programs you always install on your computers, like QuickTime, WinAmp, something that's on all of em?

I have the EXACT problem.
I also have the Soundblaster 128 sound card.
It worked fine before I installed Teamspeak but now, I could just throw away my microphone because Teamspeak ****** up my mic.
~ Confused,
Bass
