TS Server as a service
We are running TS on a Windows 2000 Server, but it runs as an application, which means that we need to log in as user or Admin and then run the server if we want it to work. Is it possible to configure the TS Server as a service so we dont need to log in an account to run it? If not, is there any other solution? (We dont feel happy having permantly a session opened in our biz server
)
Thank you!

Isn't that also in the FAQ/Manual, i swear i remember seeing somewhere, i don't know where, Running teamspeak as a service. I'm assuming probably in the manual.

You are right. It is explained in the manual, but the way it's explained there is some way out of date. There is no need to use third party applications since there is an official service version of the server.

The url that you have posted is broken Guldi...
From reading most of this forum, I've come to the believe that doing a run: "server_windows.exe /install" will set up teamspeak as a service? Is this correct? Asking because it didn't work for me.

For those looking ...
ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/4players/te.../server/20201/
Grab that, toss it in your Team Speak directory ...
Run Command Prompt...
Browse to your TeamSpeak dir ...
Enter the command: server_windows_service.exe /install
!!!
Should get a small window saying that the service has been succesfully added.
Thanks to the guys in the mIRC channel for your help.

I just did a quick search in the registry and found that the services are stored in these locations...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\R oot
Since I don't know how to set it from manual registry entry (yet), I won't explain what I think would be the trick since I don't want to cause someone to screw up their system, but I'll post when I find out for sure.
As always, messing with the registry can ruin your OS or other programs, so don't mess with it unless you know what you're doing and are willing to take the risk, like me.
Add: So far no luck after copying the layout of other similar services. I'll try a reboot and if it doesn't work after that I guess I'll just give up and use that thing Vertigion posted.
Add: Reboot did the trick. Now I need to find out what is needed and what isn't, cause there's a lot I needed to do and it might just need a couple values instead of the some 10 keys and 20 values I added.
I might make a little guide for manually adding services once I have it completely figured out. It's cool finding out how to do stuff like this.
Add: I got close but couldn't manage to get it working. The progress bar when starting the service manually would go normal until it gets to the middle, then would come to a crawling stop and a few seconds later pop up an error message saying the service didn't start in a timely manner and when I click OK it kills the server which seemed to be working fine despite the problem.
So then I decided to try that server_windows_service.exe thing to see if I could get anything extra from it, which there was a little of, and changed the registry entries from server_windows_service.exe to server_windows.exe and had the same problem as before. Then I used the service program as it was meant to be used and it worked, but I was disappointed that the icon didn't show in the system tray and decided I'd rather stay with the normal startup I've been using which only adds about 10-20 more seconds to the time the server takes to start up from boot.
That's when I hit a big problem where the server refused to start as it's always done for about a year, the icon would just pop up and disappear half a second later, every single time I tried starting it. I tried connecting and checked the task manager and it wasn't up, I even did a complete uninstall/reinstall and still the same problem. So a day later after forwarding all the client server ports to my brand new backup server I set up the day before the problem, I decided to try the service program again and sure enough it worked.
Anyway... here's the log of the error I've been getting which I checked and didn't see the same thing anywhere else in forums, so it would be nice if someone knows a fix and posts it.
