Teamspeak causing PC crashes while running DAoC?
Good evening;
I seem to be experiencing a bug, having just loaded up Teamspeak this evening to play Dark Age of Camelot with friends from work. However, I have been randomly crashing (to force a reboot) all night since using Teamspeak. I have no certainty that TS is causing the problem, but it's the only thing I've done differently since experiencing these crashes.
Is there any kind of log file I need to look at to find out the source of my problem? Nothing is being entered into my system's Event Log when the crashes occur.
My soundcard is a Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1 but I do not use it for Teamspeak. Both my input and output for Teamspeak use my Labtec USB Headset.
Please tell me if there's any way to discover the root of my problem, as many have reported playing DAoC with TS just fine.
Edit: Also, I looked at the TS log file, and it seems to reset the .txt file every time I crash, so that nothing actually gets permanently saved in it... dunno if that's right.Last edited by Galadyn; 15-07-2004 at 03:25.

I am using DX 9.0b, and there are no drivers for my USB headset save what automatically installs when I plug it into the port. I have looked on Labtec's website and there are no drivers for this type of device. Also, windows update cannot find a new driver either. Pretty much all I have is the plug-and-play driver.

Well, when I installed the motherboard drivers, it told me something to the effect of "you don't need to install the USB drivers" when I tried to. sooo... but yeah, I'll try that. Thanks! I originally GOT the usb headset because some friends ran a similiar chat on Ventrilo and my voice was all messed up because it had problems with my soundcard.

I read several posts about ppl playing MMORPG games from SOE like Planetside, DAOC, StarWarsGalaxies and they reported they experienced crashes ONLY together with TS. First of all I want to report that my computer crashes (blue screen of death) as well if I play StarWarsGalaxies and use the latest Teamspeak client. And no, on my PC there isn't a single USB device connected to it, so please don't tell me to update my USB drivers
I believe this problem really has to do with the Teamspeak client itself in combination with some hardware. On my second (older) PC it works together with SWG, but who wants to play on an old machine
I am using WinXP Pro SP2 (didn't work with SP1 neither). My graphics card is an ATI X800 Pro (didn't work with ATI 9500 Pro neither). What else do you need to know?

I figured out the problem. It was either
A) the fact that Windows was seeing 2 sound cards -- my actual one, and my USB headset
or
B) my sound card itself.
I recently picked up a soundblaster card and a plantronics headset, and have experienced no crashes whatsoever since.
Bernd99: what sound card do you have?

Hey,
I use the Nvidia nForce Audio which is an onboard soundcard. I don't have any other sound cards in my system. I'll try to find newer drivers/upgrades for my sound card.
The point is that these problems really only occur together with SWG. Perhaps SWG is allocation the sound card ressources in a different manner than most other games? Or is it really a TS problem? But others are playing without problems, so I guess it is a sound card problem...
