    Exclamation Ok I Admit...im A Noob. Help!

Ok heres the deal, I only downloaded TS less than 24 hours ago (10 i think but anyway) and i think iv jumped the gun a bit by trying to setup my own server.

I somehow managed to set my server up how ever. no one out side my home network (which is big) can join. I Tryed to read through some other people's threads but its all technical mumbo jumbo to me

All i want is simple down to earth steps on how to set up my TS server so people can join

"THE COMPLETE IDIOTS GUIDE TO TS SERVERS" Sounds good?....no?...ok!

One thing that really has me 'skuffeled' is all this talk about "port forwarding" and stuff like

(I dont think i should be using ANY internet product with my know-how but i am so live with it)

    Please help.

You answer lies within the "port forwarding". Since your TS server works within your home network, it proves that it is set up correctly.

You will only be able to find info on configuring "port forwarding" by consulting the manual of your network equipment, mainly the Router (or Modem). The term may also be shown as: Hardware firewall, NAT Rules, Network Address Translation, etc.

This is very specific to each individual Manufacturer/Product, so it's very difficult for the general TeamSpeak public to help you. Some ISP could provide help if you call them, some don't.

    This is what is happening:
When your router recieves an unsolicitated packet from the internet, if it doesn't know to which computer on the LAN to send it to, the packet is discarded. This is why you need to set forwarding rules.

The packet is unsolicitated because none of your local computer started the connection, but a computer on the Internet instead. (The computer trying to connect to the TS server).

A different thing happens when you start the connection. Like visiting google.com:
    1) A computer on your LAN start a connection to google.com
    2) The router sends it and keeps track of it, for when google.com replies.
    3) When google replies, the router already knows which computer asked for the info. And sends the packet to the correct computer.

this site has a walk thru of port fowarding you need port 8767 UDP to your lan ip of the pc with ts server loaded on it
http://www.xbchelp.com/router/ if your router is not on the list just read a few and you will se how most routers work on this issue disregaud there port #'s and use the 1 I posted. there walk thrus are for a diferant applacation , but this site is a good place to send No0bs for instructions on routers becuse there so diferant we cant be aware of all of them and how each is diferant from the next

sounds like a popup blocker for/in your internet explorer blocking the web-admin from coming up , can you turn it off while you need in your web-admin and turn it back on latter
