Is there a way to block the sound of the channel you are on when you are recieving a whisper from another player from another channel?

In other words I want priority to be on whispers so I can always recieve the whisper while i want to block out the sound in the room im in.

we have 100-300 people on our team speak at once. we are broken into many different rooms. But its hard to get whispers to work effectively when i cant hear them because of the chat in the room im in.
