Lightbulb Integrate Teamspeak in Trillian Tro as plugin

The Multimessanger Trillian Pro supports plug ins. Perhaps you could manage to develope an interface for teamspeak as trillian pro plug-in. So you can handle teamspeak with your messeanger who is mostlly alwas on top. It would be perfect to have a quick look on who is on a server.

I hope you understand what I mean. I am german with quite bad english.

Hmmm, this could be done in two ways. One would be to store whos online with a webpost script, then the plugin could read that data. The problem with this one is the TS2 server would have to set this up.

Or two, the plugin could connect to the TS2 server and query the information. The only problem with this one is if the tcpquery port was changed, you would have to ask the server owner for this.

    Good idea frasor

well, i thought of a kind of interaction between the plug in and the TS-client. The TS-client could create status information readble (in which way erver) for the plug-in. And the plug in could send commands to the client what to do like switch channel etc.
So the client would have to get an communication interface to be controlled by the plug-in.

If they would implement it like this, you have only to start the client once and then you could controll most things easy over trillian.

I dont know how much work it would be, but I think perhaps this way would be possible.

correct me if iam am wrong because i am not very familiar with writing programms.

The Trillian developers have not been exactly famouse for their cooperation when it comes to providing APIs and developing aids for plugins, and the announced framework and linux version would seem to be a busted bubble so far. If somebody makes a Trillian plugin possible, it would have to be them, though.

I don't know much about anything other than php, so API is lingo I don't know.

But since the release of Trillian Pro there has been documentation and sample code to help people create 3rd party plugins. http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/dev

However this suggestion might be better posted on the Trillian boards as there are more people familiar with making the plugins. There is no support needed from TeamSpeak dev to create it.

I dont think that there is no support by teamspeak dev needed. I dont see a way the plug-in has at the current release of TS-client a chance to know wich user are online on wich chanel on the server connected to and this would be the main reason to make such a plug in. The plugin should show me on trillian who is on teamspeak.
I even see no real oportunity to let a plug in control the TS-client.

You are right, the plug in has to write somebody who is familiar with making trillian plug ins but i think first teamspeak has to be modified a bit to make this possible

No, you can access who is online with TCPQuery, same way Webpost scripts work. It will work for the plugin as well.

Yes you are right, not considered that thing.

But the way I understand it, the plug in would only work if the server has the script. There are a few disadvanteges:
    1. The server has to support it
    2. The server machine has to handle more traffic
    3. Is this real time or onley updated every lets say 10 sek
    4. you have now possiblity to influence your client, lets say switch a chanel.
    ...

It would work, but I don't think it has sense. I think you have to implement it as a plugin client bidirectional communication, not as as a read out of server scripts by the plug in.

I hope you understand what I mean. My way would work for every server, and allow a nearly realtime 2end interface for the client in Trillian.

The best way would be to realease a plug in that functions without the normal TS-Client. Than you would have to only start one programm. I know I am a dreamer but it would be perfect.

I dont know in wich code TS is written. The plug ins must be in C or C++.

But I am sure that if the TS developers agree that a plug in is a good idea they will find the best way to make it reality

    No plans for this yet

RC2 will see the release of a dll/so wich contains functions which can control the ts2 client (get info about the connected server, connect to a server, disconnect, switch channels, get channels/players etc etc).

Well, RC2 is out now, and I can not find a function as you mentioned in it. Can I read out the status of a RC2 client or can i not?

I know this has not been brought up in some time but I'll tell you right now Trillians usage by the internet is a hugely dominant one. A plugin for Trillian - even one that required teamspeak to run in the system tray or anything like that would really be kick butt. I know a huge crowd would jump at a chance to integrate these windows and trillians transparency / always on top features.

Teamspeak + Trillian = <3 for the gaming community.
