make sure the servers you tested your mic in the channels were not moderated channels . in moderated channels you have to request voice ..

I am having this same problem, only it won't work on either Wave or DirectSound for the input. I got an error that said something like, "WaveInOpen" failure and unsupported wave-format, or something to that effect (it came up once and hasn't come up since, but still have the same problem).

I have been a TS user for over 2 years with no problems, on this particular system for nearly a year. It happened once before, but it "resolved itself" somehow with just a reinstallation of TeamSpeak - not happening this time.

I have reinstalled my sound card drivers, the sound card itself, DirectX and Teamspeak a MINIMUM of once each - still not working. Any ideas??

<edit> The acatual error message is "WaveInOpen Attempted to open with an unsupported waveform-audio format."

Hope that helps clear things up. </edit>

<edit #2> Also, when I uninstall and reinstall TS, I still have all my old server server connection info when I start TS. I even uninstalled, deleted TS folder and all sub-folders, then cleaned my registry with Registry Checkup... and it's still there! Is this part of my problem? Does anyone visit this forum anymore?!?! </edit #2>

    and it's still there! quote

deleat the hidden file called teamspeak.conf and it will not be .... to find this file you have to go to the folders options and "show hidden files"

also check you operating systems sound propertys , make sure the mic is checked as the recording source

OK, thanks for the teamspeak.conf info - I found it (alkong with anything and everything that said "Teamspeak" and deleted it all... mwahahaha!

Reinstalled and still have the same problem

Mic is not muted in system - I can hear myself talking via mic though the headphones. I also have mic selected as the recording device... blah... this is frustrating!! Any other suggestions?

if you can hear your self in your own headset your os sound propertys are not set correctly inless your in the local test mode when this happens ? , you have the "what you hear" checked as the recording source un-check it and check the mic and mic booster <--- if your out put is low . then set you ts settings tab / options /sound driver * wave & direct sound ... as well as the input/ouput devices , these setting you my have to find a working combonation . copy what you got on paper and try diferant ones till you got one that works

Still not working... I keep getting the same error - it's also happening in that cheesy MS app Recorder, telling me I "cannot save to that type of file"

I think I have a Windows issue here, not a Teamspeak issue... damn, I hate Windows! I think I'll get my Linux partition up and running over Christmas break.

this is just a source conflict guys
first go to "Volume Control" and check whether anything is muted
    if there is, uncheck it
then don't run anything like winamp, or software that play sounds or record stuff
after that, run teamspeak and check it works or not
this should do it, if not i will think of something else
also, use the Sound Recorder just to test everything is workin.. : no physical problem

Tried all of this, but it does not seem related to TS at all... Sound Recorder does not work at all - keeps telling me I cannot record fileand to start a new file, then when I do I get the same problem/error. I ran Creative Diagnostics (I have a SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit card) and it fails the wav diagnostics, but cannot repair it automatically, it tells me to reinstall software. I have reinstalled software, I have physically removed the card, uninstalled the software, then reinstalled the card into a different PCI slot, but still have the same results. I have also reinstalled Windows (without a reformatting the HD), then went through all the Windows Updates... I've run AdAware SE, Registry Mechanic and update virus software and there are no outside problems like that...

Anyone have any idea how/why my wav stuff gets so screwed in Windows (it seems obvious this is a Windows problem now) - any help would be great.

    Did you reinstall directx?

whats the exact error message when you ran the diagnostic tool for creative labs?

Also, try runnin dxdiag.. start -> run -> dxdiag

click on the sound tab at the top.
at the very top left.. What Device is it using? hope it says sblive or whatever is related to soundblaster.

    any errors?

    click on Test DirectSound

You can click on "save all information" if there are errors. It will save it as a log. then, you can post it here.

Never really found out what the problem was... it suddenly started working again, then borked out again. I installed Win XP Pro - problem solved.

I had the exact same problem, and after a lot of problem solving I think I've located the source of the problem in my case : fraps.

If I start fraps before teamspeak, I won't be able to use the microphone. If I start fraps afterwards, it works.

Kinda weird, since I have unchecked the record sound option in fraps.

    (I'm using fraps 2.5.1 and win2kpro)

Edit : btw I tested the Creative Diagnostics aswell, and after closing fraps all tests pass properly again, Wave Driver didn't fail.
