use the IP of the PC you installed the server on. If server is in your LAN, use the
LAN IP of this machine, e.g.
192.168.1.150
You can check the IP of a machine by typing "ipconfig" in a DOS box on that machine.

i have the same problem, i want to use the teamspeak i ahve created for myself and 3 more friends. Though i cannot due to the server not responding.
i see that there are two ip's a LAN with computer icon and INTERNET with eye icon. i would like to use the internet ip, with the port i have selected, though we cannot connect to this ip. though when i try to connect to the lan ip, i am the only one able to. Is there a way i can sort the internet ip 'problem' so my friends can talk to me online?
please help.

if the client and server are same pc use 127.0.0.1 as ip . if your behind a router you have to use the lan ip a 192.168.x.x or a 10.x.x.x # . conecting to a lan ip useing the wan ip will not work with 95% of routers on the market from inside the lan .

Hi Kicker
What sort of setup are you running? Is your teamspeak server pc connected directly to the internet or is it on a LAN "behind" a firewall/router?
Im running the latest version of server and I didn't need to put my server's IP address in anywhere because that is picked up automatically by the teamspeak list server.
If your server pc is attached directly to the internet, it should be the easiest to set up as you don't have to configure a hardware router/firewall in addition to pc
To check that all's well with your pc:
Click on "Start" button. In the start menu click on the "Run" option.
In the text box of the dialog box that appears, type cmd and press the OK button. This opens a black window showing the command (or DOS) prompt.
In this window type netstat -an
You'll be shown a list with several columns in it. This is a list of all the open ports on your machine, what type of protocol they are using (eg TCP/UDP) and whether they're listening or connected to something.
What you're looking for here is something like the following which shows that your UDP server port is open and listening
UDP 0.0.0.0:8767 *:*
Next, some software firewalls can cause problems. For example, ZoneAlarm will allow teamspeak server to open the port so it shows in the netstat list, but it will block the traffic through it without telling you. So if you're running a firewall, close it down while you're diagnosing your connection. If your teamspeak server works while it's turned off then you know your problem is probably related to the firewall.
If your pc is behind a firewall/router then any network traffic hitting the router from the internet will stop there naturally because it can't go into your LAN unless the router/firewall knows where to send it.
If I were setting my pc up as a server for teamspeak as a LAN pc I'd:
1) Open router configuration and assign a static IP address for my pc in the DHCP section. I'd need my network card MAC address to do this. I can find this code by opening a command prompt (see above), typing in ipconfig /all and reading the value from the response I got. This would make sure that my pc always got the same IP address. If I didn't do this then I may get a different IP address on my LAN when I boot up. In this case the server wouldn't work because the router would send traffic to the wrong computer.
2) On the router, in DHCP configuration, I would "reserve" this static IP address so that the DHCP server wouldn't give it to any other user by mistake.
3) On the router port forwarding section, I would have to create a Teamspeak Server service. This is a set of instructions for the router. It tells the router that any UDP traffic that comes in on port 8767 from the internet is to be forwarded to UDP port 8767 on the pc with LAN IP Address 192.168.0.2 (for example). Your router may also require that you set up instructions to allow traffic in the opposite direction too.
4) After I set up the instruction above, I then have to enable that rule in a different config screen.
5) I turn on router logging options so that I can tell it's redirecting traffic correctly.
