    TS2 Crash When Server Stop

Extremely annoying crash I get here. This crash seems to happen whenever I try to STOP a server so I can delete it. It immediately crashes the TS2 server and I have to reboot the system before I can run it again. I realise, that after the crash, there is a process server_linux, except one of them has (defunct) next to its status. I was told using kernel 2.6 may cause some issues, but I am using 2.4

Any one know a fix? I am on Redhat Enterprise 3. I have absolutely no way of removing a server now because of this bug. Thanks all

    that's a new issue to me ?
Hopefully you do not have to remove servers each day (else you maybe should reconisder what you do

    - Can't you kill the server thread and then restart it ?
    - If there's still a .pid file, delete it before you restart the server

Yes indeed it is a strange issue. But it has happened the past 2 times I tried to stop a server to remove it from the list, and now I am paranoid to try it again because I do not feel like having a million emails in my inbox saying "What happened to server?"

Would anyone know what might possibly I could try, or maybe what could be happening?

ya, exact same thing happens to me.... when i stop a virtual server, it crashes the entire server.... to fix it i have to kill all the ts server processes, then login and delete the .pid file, then restart the teamspeak server.... this has happened on 4 seperate occasions.... i need a fix, as i sell teamspeak server so my clients are getting quite upset.... thanks...

another problem with virtual servers under Linux. Have you guys checked the "Linux defunct..." thread ? Maybe this is related ? Seems as if the Linux server is getting problems if the vServer amount is too high ?

    Just so everyone knows.

TS Server - Linux - Defunct Process

We have a thread on this and the ts devs care to do nothing about it apparently.... We found this out the other day with some extensive testing.

What do you mean by this? by vServer I mean, is this something I can change to fix? This is not a problem I like to enjoy dealing with at all.

My old server host, never had this issue, and even the specs I had on the VDS were less than what I have now. But with my new host, and better specs, it has this issue.

Oh, and also, Guldi, I am not referring to the actual TS2 daemon, I refer to the "mini" or "virtual" servers within the actual TS2 server. When I manually stop one of these through webmin, then it crashes. It just seemed as if you thought I was referring to the TS2 daemon and not the seperate servers.

vServer = virtual servers (I guess the one you're talking about)

It was just a guess that this could be related to what is posted in the Linux defunct thread ??

    Hi there,

since we have been unable to reproduce the problem until now, I will just ask for some data from you label, and from anybody else that has the problem where the TS server goes defunct when stopping or starting a server - please answer the questions.

This crash seems to happen whenever I try to STOP a server so I can delete it.
Is this stopping the server via webadmin or via tcpquery?

I am on Redhat Enterprise 3.
Please state the output of "uname -a" and the distribution you use. It seems I have only heard from RH Enterprise causing this?

I have absolutely no way of removing a server now because of this bug.
How often does the bug occure for the other guys? It seems for Label it is every time, howmany server stop/start cycles do you need to go through until it locks up (in average)?
You think my answer is stupid ? Read This:

In a world without fences and walls - who needs windows and gates ?

For me, it seems to crash either way; when stopping a server via webadmin or tcpquery, does not matter.

Here is my output from the "uname -a" command:

    Linux host.frozenwebhost.com 2.4.20-021stab022.10.777-enterprise #1 SMP Mon Jan 10 12:33:35 MSK 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

In WHM it states that we are operating on "RedHat 9 i686"

Same as Label, happens every single time for me as well.

Doesn't happen anymore. When it did it was only when a virtual ts server became unresponsive and we needed to restart it.

    Question

I know this thread is old but I did some searches and did not find any solutions.

I am also having this problem on one of my TS2 servers.

I am running the most recent Linux TS2 server version RC2 v20201.

Is this stopping the server via webadmin or via tcpquery?
    Webadmin

Please state the output of "uname -a" and the distribution you use.

NOTE: I also run some TeamSpeak2 servers on another server that is also a RedHat OS and its always been perfect.

Every time I try to stop a vServer.

I have absolutely no way of removing a server now because of this bug.
    This is also my problem.....

I plan on installing CentOS 4 on the troubled server to try and fix the issue, but since this is also somewhat a RedHat OS my fingers will be crossed.
