Linux server questions MySQL & channels

I have a few questions I was unable to find an answer to.
    1. Do I have to setup Teamspeak to use MySQL? What would MySQL be needed for?
    2. Are users supposed to create channels? Can I create channels that will always be on the server?

No, by default, it uses SQLite, which will work fine.

If you login as a server administrator, you can create channels that will always be on the server, when you create the channel, just make sure to check the box marked "Registered"
