Cd quality codec
I know most users want to get the highest quality with the lowest bandwith, but somethimes I play games on a 100 Mbit LAN (sometimes in different rooms).
Is it possilble to implement a codec with CD quality?

How about using ogg-vorbis, that would rule for those kind of situations :P

You dont count pwk. You just want me to put ogg vorbis in at all costs

There are few people who can hear the difference between 22khz and 44 khz when a human voice is involved. (i think, altough not sure, that the human voice cant exceed 11 khz anyway, or rarely does that)
The core functionality of teamspeak is to deliver voice over internet using a low bandwidth footprint. That is what we focus on.

Any idea on technical obstacles of building that in?
It is a nice feature yes, but still, the highest codec we have delivers really clear sound allready. As long as you don't want to record somebody singing over voicecomms for a commercial record, it suffices at this point in time.

I think that's your personal oppinion. Why don't you do some research on this matter? It is a nice feature yes, but still, the highest codec we have delivers really clear sound allready. LOL

I think no cd quality codecs are needed, just improve the ones we have. I think the GSM 14.8 Kbit works the best.

okok, I get it, no high quality codec. Someone knows a good program which can deliver a good sound-quality then (like the wav or mp3) over a lan?

well if you are in a LAN, then you probably have phones there, just take the phone off the hook and wait for it to go silent, then talk on that, or use a headset with your phone! There you go!
