Connect to server through VPN help

My brother runs the teamspeak server through his server on a local network. Since I dont live with him, I connect to the network for games and such through a VPN, but when I try to connect through teamspeak, it doesnt find the server.

Aside from disabling my internet connection and only having the vpn active when i want to use it, how can I get around the program trying to use my normal connection, and use the VPN instead.

    Thanks

What means that ? Error msg, anything in the client.log (which might be answered in the FAQ) ?

    Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

For a vpn connection both sides become a new ip which is only for vpn. Is it possible that you tried to connect by a wrong ip?

when he uses a router, he can forward the ts ports. when done, try to use the wan ip instead of the vpn ip.

You can actually use it through vpn (local network ip) as well without needing to forward ports:
On VPN server, run ipconfig /all to list the IP address of PPP adapter RAS (Dial In). Try to using this IP address to connect to the Teamspeak server.
