TS works, but only if it's the main window

I have everything working fine, the problem I'm having is that when I go to play a game, (Guild Wars) TS won't transmit unless it's the main program in my active window. Another words, if I am playing GW in window and TS is running I can't transmit unless I am in the TS window.

As long as I click on TS to make it my active window (ie: program tab) all is fine.....once I go off to another window, like to play the game.....I can't talk or receive.

    Any idea's?

    Unhappy me too

I am having this problem too. I can sorta cope with it 'cause I geeked out and set up a 2nd monitor on my GF5, so my game runs windowed on the left and I can click on TS on the right. I end up saying everything twice though because I keep forgetting that I have to do that. Its kinda frustrating.

Out of curiosity, are you running a Dell? I have a Dell 8300, with onboard sound. Someone had suggested that I try a sound card. The thing is my sound is good, even with TS....I just have to be in the TS Window to talk. Don't really want to add a sound card....just to see if it works or not for this program.

It certainly keeps me from yacking while playing very much....lol I just have to remember to go back to the TS window to transmit.

I can't believe there aren't more people having the same problem. I have such a common system.

Do you think it could be a window setting somewhere? This has me baffled.....has to be a easy fix for this.

    nope

Nope, mine is a Mazdek Special. The soundcard is an SB Live!. I'm currently using the default XP drivers, though if I'm gonna change them I'm going to use the kX Project drivers.

I dunno, I wouldn't think that a key bind like this would be related to the sound drivers. I'm guessing its an OS thing.

When I first posted this the board suggested some related posts, one was for a much earlier version of TS with a similiar problem. The one and only reply suggested updating mouse drivers, but I already have the manufacturer's latest.

    Hi Mazdek,

Since you are using a key binding to activate the mic, it sounds like an issue with DirectInput and the game. It's possible that the game is usurping all DirectInput calls, thus preventing Teamspeak from knowing that the key was pressed.

In "Settings->Options->Other" you could try the "Disable Direct Input" checkbox. That may or may not work. If you have any settings with similar sounding names in your game, you could also try mucking about with those.

You might also want to try using voice activation. If voice activation works while in game, then it is much more likely to be a DirectInput conflict caused by the game as opposed to a problem with Teamspeak or the soundcard.

Yep, that looks like its it, the DirectInput conflict. Turning that off in TS disables what I have bound to talk with (mouse3). I don't suppose anyone knows how to muck around with that? Voice activation is annoying to listen to, I'd hate to inflict it upon others.
