Download a client that automatically points your dyndns domain to your IP address. Tell other people about your dyndns domain.

Exclamation Problems connecting due to firewall

    Hi there guys,
I've known about dynamic IP issue for a while and had been trying to use my No-IP http://www.no-ip.com account to get around the problem but had difficulties.
Friends were able to connect to my TS server if I gave them my IP address but if they tried my host name they got no response.

I tracked the problem down to my firewall after trying to ping (response time check) my host name and finding that all packets were being dropped even though it had returned the correct IP address. The problem was that my firewall (Norton Internet Security (I know... bloatware)) was blocking all ICMP connections in and out by default.

After turning off the default rule and doing another ping to my host name the firewall came up with a warning asking me what to do about an inbound ICMP ECHO request and I was able to make a new rule to allow it. After doing this my friends were ablt to connect to my TS server using my host name without a problem.

I hope this helps anyone who has had the same problem
