Why can some clients connect and others can't?

I had been running a slightly older version of TS2 on my linux server. Anyway, it stopped working so I desided to re-do it.

So I downloaded the new server and got it up and running and talking to my MySQL database to store its info.

I can connect to it via the local lan with no issues. However my users who connect from the outside get the following message:

    [19:22:42] Connecting to xx.xx.xx.xx
    [19:22:45] No reply from server
    Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it
However this isn't a firewall issue b/c I can see them hit the server in the logs. And only some of them are having the issue. I have had 1 users sucessfully connect.

07-08-05 19:22:42,ALL,Info,AccessLog, SID: 1 client connected [IP: xx.xx.xx.xx, Nick: test,
    Version: 2.0.32.60]
07-08-05 19:22:44,ALL,Info,AccessLog, SID: 1 client disconnected. [Nick: test]

The users have all tried via IP and FQDN and get the same error above. I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. I didn't change anything on my firewall from when the server stopped working on the older version. I just stopped the older version, deleted it, and reinstalled the new version.

I'm at a complete loss as to why this is happening. I can't see it being a configuration error on the server as there isn't much to configure. And my firewall (Cisco router) seems to be forwarding the packets correctly as I can see the clients hit the logs. I've had my troubled clients reboot thier PCs, routers, and reinstall the TS client. Still no go.

Does anyone have any insight as to where I can look to solve this issue?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Bump. Anyone?

Appears that I'm not the only one to have this issue.

Yeah same here, I dont know how come were both not getting the replys for help but other posters get full support with the teamspeak staff. I guess they don't know how to fix this problem their self so didnt bother to drop a post.

I was having the same problem on my box, all prots where open, but would receive "No Reply from server"...I was about to make a post then I decided to check the server.ini...

I found the "boundtoip=" was blank, so I put in the static IP assigend to the user the TS was installed on and it did the trick!

Now server works great...hope this works for you!

    Let me know...

Is your box NAT'ed? Did you enter the inside IP or the outside IP? I have 3 interfaces in my server... 1 for VPN users and 1 for the backup server and 1 for all internet traffic. If my users come in via VPN, TS works fine (mind you no boundtoip is set). The backup server one I can use to connect from in my LAN.

What I find strange is some users can connect and others can't. So the f/w that is on the internet interface is obviously passing the packets correctly.

I would assume that if it is blank that TS would listen on all interfaces on the server.... is this not a correct assumption?

yes this is correct however some NAT implementation (as I get it) cause problems when having more then one IP interface installed in the server so therefore you might bind it to one or more Interfaces. That seems to "soften" this problem.

My box has several static IPs and when connecting I can see that packets where being sent and received so it was not a firewall issue, I was stumped until i tried this and it worked. I put in an "outside" ip address. Now i dont have any problems with any users trying to connect.

    Hope that helps!
