    Linux Client HELP!

I run a small Counter-Strike team and despiratly need voice comunications. I applyed for beta testing, but I'm somewhat impatient as i needed something like this yesturday. Winex doesnt support the ingame voice, and without it managing a team is somewhat frustrating. So, I beg of you, PLEASE set me up with some beta software to try. I really really really hate windows, and this is the one area that i cant get running perfectly in linux. I've considered trying to run a windows client in vmware, but i take a pretty heavy performance hit with it running and im not even sure if it would work. Also, if anyone knows of another linux client that can interact with a windows system let me know. Im willing to work through some quirks and bugs in order to keep my prefered enviroment.

Patience! The developers are working hard on getting the Windows client up, and will recompile it for Linux a couple weeks after that's done. The only thing that will make the process go faster is to throw a ton of money at them so they can quit their day jobs.

Thanks for the quick reply. I went out and bought a new headset today. I'm determined to find _something_ to communicate with . I understand there are alot of issues with linux and sound, so I commend your bravery. Please keep me in mind when the time does come. In the mean time, I guess I'll just have to run a computer just for voice chat. I have a extra PIII 550 sittin here not serving anything, but thats alot just to run a voice client.

Esp. when you think how little a client you would need for a Linux-based voice chat system. You could probably put the whole thing in a little 486 box you could wear on your hip, once the TS2 Linux client is out.

ya. but unfortunatly its the slowest server i have left. my dns server is linux, my firewall/throttling server is linux, my game servers are linux, and my web servers are linux. The only machine i have extra to install a windows client on is that 550. I have a XP Pro system in the living room for the Ol' Lady, but if i steal that one she'll get pissed

    Sounds familiar

The only other "working" voicecom prog I know for both Windoze and Linux is Speak Freely, and I think it rather sucks... sorry.... but it may help ya until 2.0 comes out.

Gnomemeeting works pretty good, connects to net meeting and supports voice and video. I found that after hours of digging.

Need help BETA testing the Linux client ? I would gladly work it out with Woutur, I helped him out promoting your prog on our UT mod Strike Force United website , and he has helped me out wonderfully with Linux in the past
