tsclient makes connections I'm not to sure of

    Erm...

    # sudo netstat -alpn

Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name
    tcp 1 1 192.168.100.10:56187 213.202.254.116:80 LAST_ACK -
    udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32781 0.0.0.0:* 1991/TeamSpeak.bin
    udp 0 268 0.0.0.0:8767 0.0.0.0:* 839/server_linux

Erm... what's with the 213.202.254.112-119:80 connection....

What's with the 0.0.0.0:32781 listening port...

I blocked 213.202.254.0/24 on my router, and 327xx isn't port forwarded... So basically, I'm wondering why in the world does the TeamSpeak client open that UDP port and make that http connection?!?!? My teamspeak server+client are working fine with that stuff blocked... So is there a reason that the ts client opens these ports/connects?

No idea about the UDP port, but the client fetches server lists from a central browser server. That's probably the TCP connection.

yah, i figured that... but I'm not in the "connect to server" window, nor have I ever clicked the "web server list" button...

I really don't like that stuff... ~.~ programs that make connections that arn't needed... I keep a minimal system, I like my programs to stay minimal too... I'm kindah bothered by the fact that I can't edit the ts code to suite my wants... ~.~ Great job and all... but really, this sort of stuff begs the question, what sort of info is being transmited... ie: client uptime, clients current connected to server... etc... I might have to setup a sniffer to find out what's being sent down that line...

Grrr... friken stupid arse spy ware, people find an alternative to teamspeak, Do you really want these guys to know about what servers your connecting to? for how long you've connected? I wonder if the teamspeak servers can listen in on your private voice chats. Speaking of that... how many backdoors have thes guys put into teamspeak? If they know your online, and who you've connected to, then what's preventing them from leaving a backdoor programed into the closed source program, and finding out what websites you've visited? Heck, why don't we all just go download bonizai buddy and have a spyware friendly fun feasta?
