    Guests cant connect ...

    HI!

I've got TS server and now i have a problem that i don't know how to solve it. I looked up everything at TS server options and i could do that. So i would like if someone could tell me what to do that guests could connect to my TS server.

    EDIT: I solve it!

    Hi modman,

How did you solve the problem??

I think I'm having the same problem...

Basically I'm running the latest version TS server on a computer on my home network, which connects to the internet via a router and ADSL modem. The TS server computer is in a DMZ setup on the router, and in any case has port 8767 forwarded to it. The only firewall I have other than the router is the Windows XP Pro one running, which has TS server set as an exception. Also running Avast! antivirus, which doesn't seem to be interfering.

The server is running fine - it's detected the computers LAN IP address ok, and also the static IP address provided by my ISP.

I am able to connect to the TS server from other computers in the home network via either the LAN IP address of the TS server computer, or the external (static) Internet IP address of the TS server, without ANY problems whatsoever.

The problem arises when anyone OUTSIDE my LAN tries to access the TS server (obviously via the static IP address.) They cannot connect and are being told that the server either isn't running or they've got the wrong address. I've tried checking the server using a scripted test website, and that cannot connect either.

In summary, port forwarding is enabled for UDP on the default TS port. The computer running TS server is setup as a DMZ on the router anyway. Firewall/antivirus has been tested on and off, and isn't interfering. I can connect from the LAN via the LAN IP, and static Internet IP. Have tried editing the BoundToIP= setting in server.ini, but that just locks the server up completely. Yes, I'm using the correct static IP address.

    ANY help would be appreciated!

It almost sounds correct what you did. The only thing I'd not do is the DMZ, just use port forwarding.

    Red face DMZ setting

    Hi Guldi,

I've taken the DMZ off now, due to the obvious security risk, was running it as a last resort to try to get TeamSpeak working!

The only other thing I've since tried is to access the ADSL modem itself (Origo ASR 8400), as I remembered that also has router functionality - have copied the port forwarding to that too (not sure if I did it right, I've forwarded the ports to the main router as the modem sits between that and the Internet, AND I've forwarded 8767 to the TeamSpeak server IP too as a 'coverall' method.)

Basically I've ordered a Netgear broadband/wireless router, so that I can get rid of the separate router/ADSL modem setup I have now for a more simplified 'single box', single setup option in the hope that will solve the problem, but I'm still convinced this should work through the setup I have already (after all, everything else from Limewire to BitTorrent to Battlefield 2 works perfectly through it.)

    Regards,

so you run two NAT's (port forwarding) in sequence ? Lucky if that works without problems, I'd certainly not do that as this has a (high) potential for causing problems. You could switch your first "modem" to bridge mode so you don't have an additional NAT Layer

    Talking Two NAT's

Errm, yeah, it would appear so...

I was trying to find out how to put the ADSL modem into bridge mode yesterday, but for some reason can't find anything on it - as I said before, it's an Origo ASR-8400. Any ideas what I need to do?

I've now disabled all port forwarding and NAT services in the ADSL modem, but how do I enable bridging? There's a bridge option in the WAN Adaptor configuration, is it just a case of enabling that??

    Thanks for your help,

This might not be any help, but, I find that whenever people try to host a TS2 server using a wireless connection to their router it never seems to work correctly.

    Talking Fixed problem!

Okay, thanks sgtbenc for your advice, but my TS server wasn't wireless - anyway, although I haven't found out what the problem was exactly, I've sorted it out. The new router/ADSL modem/WAP arrived this morning, and I was able to get rid of the separate SMC Barricade router/WAP and Origo ASR-8400 ADSL modem setup.

Not sure why, but the Origo was set to 10.0.0.2 (it's default, I believe), and was plugged into the SMC Barricade via its WAN connector. The SMC was running on 192.168.2.*, which may have caused problems for routing packets through from the net to TS, I don't know.

Anyway, they've both gone and are replaced with one complete solution. I set up the port forwarding for 8767, 15234 and 14235 (or whatever they are! ) and the TS server is checking out fine at http://ts2test.planetteamspeak.com/.

Thanks for your help guys - to anyone else having problems similar to mine, make sure TS is set as an exception in your firewall (i.e. Windows XP Firewall, Norton Internet Security, etc) and follow the advice given elsewhere in these forums or http://www.portforwarding.com to setup the port forwarding.

If that still doesn't work, and you've got a bizarre network setup like I had, then try to reduce it to its most simple setup - it cost me a new combined router/WAP/ADSL, but at least now it works!

    Thanks again,

    Gumtree

EDITED: that would be the correct link http://www.portforward.com/
