Unhappy The others cannot hear me

I am on Red Hat Fedora Core 3, kernel 2.6.11. I downloaded the most current teamspeak client, 2.0.32.60. I am not playing a game at the same time I use teamspeak (just browser games without sound).

I can hear the other people and also the messages like "link engaged". The other people cannot hear me. The microphone is working and on (when I turn it very loud, I can hear the feedback). When I change the settings to push-to-talk, the indication light turns green when I push the button, but they can still not hear me. When I change back to voice activation and put it very low, to whisper, the indicator is green all the time, but they still cannot hear me. If I move it a little higher, it never turns green, even when I yell. When I move the lever to the very left (whisper), a loud feedback noise occurs which the others hear.

What can I do or what should I check?

I have since moved to Kubuntu. There I had to do this:
    - Start KMix bei clicking on the loudspeaker icon and then on Mixer.
    - Go to the Input tab
    - switch on the green and the red light for Mic and move the lever up
    - switch on the red light for Capture and move the lever up
    - Go to the Switches tab
    - switch on the yellow light for Mic Boost (+20dB)

I don't know exactly where those settings are on GNOME, hope you'll find them and it will help.

I have to use Push-to-Talk, though, because otherwise there is lots of feedback noise. I haven't found a solution for that problem.

Double click on the sound at the top panel.
    Edit>preferences
Click them all and close the preferences
Click recording and move bar all the way up.
Click switches tab choose mic boost.
    Whala. That is it.
