Output to different channels
It would be cool if there was a way to tell the voice channels where to go - i.e. such as rear speakers channels.
That way front channels can have game sounds, while rear channels (for example) could have voice.
So for example, say in a game like Quake 3 - which only uses the front two channels anyhow - a player could make teamspeak output sounds to the rear speakers and hook up headphones to the rear channels.
In fact, if the sound card supported 5.1 - you could probably somehow make it output to the front center channel - and a person could use that for headphones (voice would be mono) and the rest for game sounds (all other channels for speakers).

It is probably easier and more functional to just to add another sound card to your machine tho you may need a better player/recorder mixer than windows provides.

I was just thinking of ways to use the resources we already have instead of having to setup an extra device and deal with potential conflicts.
