Query Port connection returns "ERROR: invalid id"

We've got a strange problem when connecting to our host's TS server via the Query Port (our clan web site uses this to display live TS server details), and I'm hoping someone can shed some light. The web site code btw is tested and works on our previous host, but not on our new one.

The TS virtual server works fine via the TS client - we connect to our assigned port and it all works as usual. We can also manage the server through the web admin interface. But in the TS Query Port connection it seems as though the virtual server port is not listed. I can replicate the problem using telnet.

Here's what happens. I can telnet to port 51234 and get the usual response. But when I issue 'sel 9999' (not the real port) I receive '"ERROR: invalid id". Now if I issue 'sl' then our port 9999 is not listed. It's as if the virtual server is not configured, but it obviously is because it works!

Unfortunately I don't have superadmin or ftp access to the server as it's hosted. I was wondering if there are any suggestions that I can fire at my host - maybe some configuration changes or something - if I can tell them how to fix the problem it's more likely to be fixed quickly!

    Thanks in advance
    /poley

This sounds like your hoster is using another TCP query port for the TeamSpeak server instance your virtual server is running on.

Many thanks for the quick response.

Please excuse my ignorance as I'm not a server admin, though I've obviously tried to get this information by reading the manuals. Does this imply that they are running two TS server instances on the same IP address, or is there a way of assigning different query ports to different virtual servers on the same server instance?
