IP address question
I have been reading through the post and didnt find what I was looking for.
I have set up a server on a 2nd computer with a router. It works perfect but if I restart my router then the external IP changes and the clan members cannt join unless I send the IP out to them. Is there anyway to give the server a name that will connect to the external IP even if it changes. I hope I am making sense. The computer is running XP.

hi snuffy
this question makes sense (however it has been answered many times => search)
there are a many dynamic DNS service which are free. I use that one from www.dyndns.org
make an account, create your domain (e.g. myTSserver.mine.nu), download client (which updates your changing WAN IP in the database of dyndns.org.
Your friends may now join over "myTSserver.mine.nu"
EDITED: when you turn down your Router and you reconnect, you will get a new IP Adress from your ISP as long as you do not have a static IP. Some ISP do even give you a new IP from time to time (e.g. all 24 h,...)Last edited by guldi; 27-01-2003 at 07:21.

Hey..
Snuffy, do you turn your router off every night?
It seems ike the way you talk, you turn everything off.
Just checking. But anyways, let us know some more about your set up. Like your computer model, and speed of CPU and RAM. This wil make a differance with the server.
Let me know..
