Static sound
Anyone know what is causing the static sound that one of my fellow clanmembers produces. As soon as he pushes the button to talk he causes a major static sound. He can hear us talk, but he himself cannot be heard, only a loud static sound.
Could this be a codec issue ?? He did install the codecs he got from a link somewhere on this forum..........didn't work.
All i know is that he has a Windows 2k OS, working as a server.
Soundblaster soundcard >>>>>>> could a driverupdate solve his problem ??
Not much i can tell ya right now........but just maybe there's somebody who had the same problem.

It sounds alot like his microphone is hooked up wrong..
How about a local loopback test? does he hear that noice too?
He could try using Direct input ... however it really sounds as if the microphone is messed up..

i had too clan mates that had this very same issue. one had a bad headset and a new mic fixed it the other just turned on mic boost in regular windows sound

hmmm, only thing is he can use Roger Wilco with that same headset..............strange but true. So i guess that cant be the issue.
And he did try it with boost on and off, only thing that happened was that the static got less loud with boost off.

he'll have to experiment with turning down the volume of the mice input etc

Hey Tim,
I see you are a TS developer. Hmmm , you say he just has to play around with volume-settings, and that should fix it ??
One more question.......i am not a programmer, probably too stupid for it
hehe:
I read, the used codec for TS was Hauspie "something". So now i guess both the sent and received data are Hauspie encoded/decoded. Knowing this you may assume that if he has the wrong Hauspie-codec or worse, none at all, he would not be able to receive OR sent. The fact is that he CAN hear us ??
Am i right if i say that it CAN NOT be a codec issue ? Or can it still be a faulty hauspie-encoding from his side that can't be decoded on our side. (while HIS DEcoding does work) ?
But anyway, thx for the superfast replies............

Well i'm not one of the actual coders of TS
but alot i do alot of things around it and testing ofcourse 
Anyway the TeamSpeak Client comes with the Codecs in the installer, so if you install TS it will install the correct codec (unless it is already installed) so this shouldn't be a problem..
Hopefully by settings the microphone input volume lower (and output) this can be corrected..

My team has one guy who always joins the server with his mic cranked up too high, so everything clips and he sounds like hash. Once he turns the transmit volume down, he becomes very understandable.
One thing I liked with RW was the "loopback server" feature. You could run RWBS (base station) in loopback test mode and it would repeat back what you say. I wonder if such a thing will be in 2.0? It would be nice to dedicate a channel to that. Right now TS has local loopback, but that doesn't test the full packet path. However, local loopback should test all the audio parts, and eliminate the network as an issue.

I have a problem with static too! I can't get rid of it! I don't know what to do. When I test my codecs they all are staticy. I have adjusted my input and output volume and still not good. I need some help! The older version of TeamSpeak wasen't this weird.

I am also experiencing this problem with TeamSpeak. I used to experience it with RogerWilco, but for some reason not the old version of TeamSpeak.
I did some research into this a while ago, and I was lead to belive this was something to do with Windows XP and Soundblaster Live soundcards. It's only when you load up a game (e.g. Counter-Strike), and it doesn't occur straight away. If you load up the game first, and then RogerWilco, it fixes it. But if I try this with TeamSpeak then it just crashes, so I am unable to speak at all on the new version.
Please help me, this problem has been driving for ages, and I thought it had gone but it has just come back.
