TS though SSH
Hi there,
I'm currently living at University Halls and am provided an internet connection. The connection is however blocking many things, pretty much everything except port 80 for http.
To get past this I am renting a Linux shell outside of the network. I connect to it via an SSh tunnel which is connected via Putty. All my applications work fine, I just point their proxy settings to my own ip, 127.0.0.1.
Last night I tried to connect to a TS server and it wouldn't work. I assume it was being blocked so I fired up FreeCap but it still wont connect. I use FreeCap with other programs like WoW and it connects fine, so don't think the problem is with FreeCap.
I get the error message "Bad response from the server". I read the FAQ and this is an error associated with incompatible versions of the client and server software. I know that my version matches the server because it was working fine when I was a home. I asked the admin and he said the server has not been changed.
Any ideas?
Thanks guys.

TeamSpeak uses UDP connection, which is far harder to translate through proxy, than TCP connections.
You can only walk to network admins (with beer of course) and ask 'em to unblock UDP traffic for 8767 port (or whatever Your TS server uses)

And SSH does not support tunneling UDP at all.

Darn it
Ok so my current set up isn't going to work. Does anyone have any ideas?
ANR Daemon, I would love to but I have tried that. Well i tried to get them to open up some ports for other stuff and they told me they couldn't.
I know it sounds stupid and probabily impossible but can I connect to a TS server without the TS clinet. Is there a 3rd party program that will work via SSH?
Thanks for any info.

Read BHKai's post above.
You can't tunnel UDP traffic.

Yes I understand that but is there an alternative.
I basically need a way of getting around their firewall, like I have been doing with TCP connections. How would I go about tunneling UDP? Is it possible? If not what ways can UDP traffic bypass firewalls?
Thanks, and sorry for all the questions.

You have to convert udp to tcp then tunnel then tcp to udp. I do not know a way to do that. I just remember reading about it somewhere and I do not know it the person was talking about it in theory even or what.
But I no that it will be hard and not worth it. Wait for ts3 as it will use tcp as an option.

It is possible through VPN connection to some computer outside of Your blockaded network.
All traffic will be encapsulated into VPN packets and homefully passed over firewall.
If You have such server somewhere in the wild internet, You may establish an UDP proxy on the other end and use TeamSpeak from Your campus through VPN.
