FreeBSD guide to TeamSpeak2_RC2

For the BSD 4.5+ users of RC2 [201916]:

1. Download your Linux server version of RC2

2. Upload it to the directory where you want tss2 setup.

3. Run:
a) bunzip2 ts2_server_rc2_201916.tar.tar
b) tar -xf ts2_server_rc2_201916.tar.tar.out
c) cd tss2_rc2

4. Go to: ftp://voice.teamspeak.org/developer/server/
a) Save b22_server_linux for linux to your computer.
b) Upload b22_server_linux to your server's tss2_rc2 directory

5. Run: (in the tss2 directory)
a) rename b22_server_linux server_linux
b) brandelf -t Linux server_linux
c) chmod 777 server_linux

6. Be sure you have installed
a) linux_base1.7_2
b) sql support installed on your server (package?)

7. Run:
a) sh tss.minimal_startscript start
[ If you still have unaddressed errors try to find the answer on these forums. ]

8. In your tss2_rc2 directory a file titled "server.log" will be created by step 7. Open this file and find the superadmin and admin passwords. WRITE THEM DOWN!

9. If you got a PID (process ID) from step 7 and no errors then you may open your web browser and in the address line type your new Teamspeak2_RC2 server IP address and the port number: 14534

10. login and play as you please. I hope this helps, take care!

how can I find out if I have Linux Base and sql support installed?
and where can I find them if I need them?

use the pkg_info command to see what it is installed.. look for the linux base.. as for installinga different base, you can use the ports system accessed via /stand/sysinstall

For me I could only get 7.1.1 via this method, I need to dig a little to see how to grab ports that are not listed for a given installation(4.7 stable in this case).

So far these steps have not worked with 7.1.1 base, although it launches, there are many many sql errors as it tries to wright out the data...

The FreeBSD server that I am on has webmin running. It makes it possible for me to view my stuff in n00b mode. As I am a Unix n00b.

I have the MySQL Module running. Beyond that I am uncertain. Perhaps the TS Devs would be kind enough to comment here on where to look for guidance on this.

As far as linux_base1.7_2, just goto google as I did and look for a hit that lets you download it. I used webmin to install it once I uploaded it.

Perhaps again the Devs could comment on package finding and installation. As I am semi-ignorant of it.

There seems to be a gross lack of information as to how we're supposed to setup MySQL to work with teamspeak.

I just let "login failed" when I try to login to the web console with the admin accounts listed in the server.log file, amonst the string of SQL errors.

ok... FreeBSD 5.0 works with it... web admin and all...
I did a fresh install of BSD from 4.7 to 5.0
it works great.

the only problem I'm having is the infinite load time for the web admin.
it's odd...
however... everything else works!
the database, the sql.. everything...

Am I completely missing it, or is there no docs for TeamSpeak? I'd kill for a manual.

It doesnt use mysql it uses sqlite.
