    TS3 built into other products?

R.Ludwig, every ones dev super hero. Posted the below information in another thread. While the English language is not his forte(don't worry Ralf its not mine either), you have to give him bonus points for an unofficial blog post and the fact english is a second language for him.

Now onto what I started the thread for. If I am not mis understanding what Ralf has said, the TS3 code base is being used by third parties. While this is a good thing I am a little concerned how it is being used. I don't mind third party apps or games doing this so long as it is integrated/compatible with the standalone client that will be released. Ie. You setup your config, key binding etc in the standalone TS3 client and the game/app hooks into the client to do things like automatic server joins, channel changing(for teams) and displaying the names(TSO style). I would hate to see 3rd parties just rip the entire code and make it another standalone client forcing you to use it instead of the TS3 client you already have installed and configured.

While I'm posting in suggestions(this has probably already been requested though). It would be awesome in TS3 if you could be connected to two servers at the same time. So you can chat to clan/team buddies while playing a game that automatically joins you to the games server and team channels(3rd party app with TS3 support).

Cheers Teamspeak devs. I hope we see a beta or another Dev blog post soon.

    Petz

this companies are using the same base which the ts3
client, you are all waiting for, uses. so every bug and every feature
request they report back to us will help us to deliver a more stable even
better client with the first release.

i know it takes all a very long time, we had some issues and alot of stupid things
happend in the past. i can only ask you all to give us some more
time (some months) to get this baby out to you. we are all quite sure
that you will love it and the time you spent waiting was not wasted.

the news / devblog issue might be quite easy to solve for you. it is not
so easy for us. we dont like to write about certain features. we want
them to keep our features. we got copied to often already. so instead
of writing some marketing trash and repeating stuff we try to give you
atleast some infos and hints... whatever excuses we have, you are right
we should try to update it more often.

so forgive me my bad english and please dont start picking my words
and use them to flame me... like you know, i should type into an different
    window :/ ...

Have you played games like Quake ET, World of Warcraft, and BF 2142 where there are voice fully integrated into the games. You do not download, and you configure settings inside the game menu. I am not saying nor know which games or companies are using TS3. In addition, they are actually just using the technology and resources that TS3 has to offer. This way the TS company is able to test the lag, quality, and other features without first having to wrap a complete gui around the application to test. Plus as many people that play and test games can test TS3 at the same time without knowing it.

Once they are happy with TS3 they will finaly release it to the public as its own app.

I have and the built in VoIP is crap compared to TS2, hence my concern. I don't think having separate implementations is good. Wouldn't it be better to just have these games bundle TS into the game installer and have API hooks to allow the game Devs to control TS like channel changes when you move teams etc....

This very well may be whats happening but I wanted to ask. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone in the know sees the thread. Perhaps there is another point of view I don't see and someone will enlighten me.

Lets put it this way: Teamspeak 2 is still in release canidate, thats sums up about how I feel about the Teamspeak development team's ability to get things done. =\ I'm glad we went with Ventrilo instead of sitting on our thumbs without a quality VOIP system. Sadly my faith in TS has made me look dumb, yay.

In game is always going to sacrifice quality for bandwidth, especially MMOs, hence why I like running my own server.
