High pitched noise when TS is open
I've searched around for this problem but couldn't find a solution anywhere.
Specs:
Windows XP SP3 - fully updated
SoundMax HD Audio
Saitek Cyborg 5.1 Headset - reinstalled drivers, no change
Don't think any others are needed, let me know if they are.
When using my headset I get a high pitched noise when TS is open before I even connect to a server. I've tried muting the mic, pulling it out had no effect either, tried different TS codecs, all the options in TS have been played with and the only thing that had any effect was changing the input sound device to SoundMax HD Audio (Although I'm using my headset which uses C-Media CM106 Like Sound Device for input and output). But obviously that then means I can't use the mic which is no good.
Everything in TS works fine and only I can hear the sound so basically I'm all out of ideas. Hope someone can help

You do know that XP SP3 is out. That would be fully updated.
Back to the problem at hand. Check you playback settings. Make sure that your mic is muted and then check the recording settings and make sure that the mic is selected.

doh meant SP3, been on SP2 for so long it was a force o habit :P edited now
volume controls - playback mic is muted and recording selected.

What if you have the output as the soundmax?
Have you tried starting the local test to see if anything changes?
Has it worked before?
