My mic isn't working properly
I bought a GE PC Stereo Headset Model# 98960 headset from Target a few weeks ago and have just finally gotten around to using it. the headphones work fine on it and the people in my TS server i can hear talk. But the thing is that I cant talk in any of my programs. Wow chat, Vent, TS, and sound recorder all are not picking up my mic. and when i go down into my sound options under 'recording' i have these and I dont understand them.
Microphone
NVIDIR(R) nForce(TM) Audio
Currently unavailable
SPDIF
NVIDIR(R) nForce(TM) Audio
Working (this is defaulted right now)
Line In
NVIDIR(R) nForce(TM) Audio
Currently unavailable
Could someone help me out?

Try updating.
The mic should be the one that you want. The reason behind why it is currently unavailable is beyond me.

I updated my driver, or tried to. It was already up-to-date. Im not sure what else to do so that it can work. I dont want to buy another mic just because the mic cant be picked up when it possibly could be.

Try making sure that you have the mic plugged into the correct port and set the mic as the default sound device.(right-click) and that it is not disabled.
Then you should be able to talk into the mic and see some green bars appear to the right of the pic of the mic on the recording devices window.

Yea, I did all that and figured out that its the mic thats messed up. I bought a new one today and it works great in WoW chat except for that stupid echo that ive got now. I can't get it to go away. And then when i try to load TS i get this error message before i can load:
TDSoundOut.Open(DirectSoundCreate): No sound driver is avaliable for use
Im not sure what that means. Help?

Try using direct sound instead of wave.
In your OS playback setttings, go to volume control and mute the mic.
