    Multi-Platform Support

I am PC gamer who also plays Playstation 3. Is there any chance we might see TS break out into consoles. I believe alot of PC gamers have switched to PS3. and it would help to be able to still keep in contact with those on PC. I love Teamspeak and hope to see it in all platforms. I'm sure Sony would welcome the idea it would benifit thenm nicely since Microsoft uses thier MSN messenger. Imagine how easy Sony would take to the idea I know the PS3 community are looking for something cross-platform. This could be it!!!

That is a fantastic idea . I would be thrilled to see teamspeak on Playstation 3, I do not know the technical difficulties to make it and hope it is possible.

If it is impossible to make TS version on PS 3 that could communicate with the Pc/Mac/Linux versions, if so then just having communication within PS 3 would be good too.

    With release we do:
    Linux x86
    Linux amd64
    Windows 32bit
    Windows 64bit
Mac OS X (universal, so both ppc and intel cpus)
    FreeBSD x86 (server only)

That is very Multi-Platform-ish, you'll be hard pressed to find other companies with that kind of support line up on release.

Playstation 3 is something which we could definitely do, in the future, but it is not something on my "must have" list.
You think my answer is stupid ? Read This:

I hear u, but I was meaning in the gaming console side. I believe Sony would love a free based solution to PC to console. It would help them make the PS3 look good and get teamspeak a great supporter. It's a win, win.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was wondering if this is still one of the options and if it is something you guys plan to work on.

Problem is that the way PS3 works, you can run one "game" at a time. TS3 could look to getting game developers to use TS3 in their code to add support. Could have an "game" that is just TS3, but you can't run 2 games at once. I doubt Sony will allow TS3 to load as a APP that is running while gaming. We can't even play music from the player while gaming, again it falls on the developer of the game to incorporate the code to do this.

I've been running a TS server (was TS2 now TS3 since early 2010) that several PS3 players (well less now than it was years ago) use while playing games on their PS3, but they were required to have a PC/laptop near their gaming area. Now with the Linux on PS3 that was very promising, but there was no PPC Linux build of TS3 and now that Sony removed Linux with firmware 3.21 from the PS3 I doubt there will be any chance of getting it. I really wanted that so that even if the clients playing on the PS3 were not able to use their PS3 for TS3 we could say the server they were using was on a PS3. I still have a PS3 running firmware 3.15 with Linux installed, used it to build one of my TS3 plugins to support PPC Linux though I could never test it without a PPC Linux client. Right now the best chance of getting TS3 on PS3 Linux come from the users of the old Power Macs users that have installed Linux on them. I have a Power book that I'm looking for a spare drive for so I can switch between OS X and YellowDog Linux.

Even if you can only run TS3 outside of the game would be a good step in the direction.
(You meet up with a bunch of people in TS3 before you start a game together or something, or afterwards)
Beneficial for a multi gaming platform organisation I would imagine.

I was really looking for this so I could keep in contact with other people in my multiple gaming community who are playing on PC games.

I feel it's kinda weird that the Playstation isn't capable of running 2 apps (music and gaming) at the same time?
Where this could be helpfull for TS3 and gaming at the same time.

Especially since Dust 514 is coming out next year, which is a hybrid between EVE Online (an MMO on the PC) with FPS (exclusive for the PS3). Being able to communicate with Teamspeak between those two platforms would make the hybrid experience that much better I'd reckon.

Is there any possibility that TS3 would make a client available for PS3 in the future? (Native PS3 firmware instead of Linux build?)

    I really hope so.

    EDIT:
I now realize this is the TS2 forum section.
Maybe I should create a new thread in the TS3 section?
