Please Help Me!!! Opening Ports On a Dlink 504

Hi All

I have Just Recently Got a Dlink 504 Router.

I cant Figure out how to get RC2 Server To Work Propely, I have opened the Port 8767 in my Dlink 504 Router for the IP of the Machine that is hosting it, however i cant connect with TS Client with my InterNet IP.

I have 2 Computers.

The Dlink Router IP : 192.168.0.1
System Hosting RC2 : 192.168.0.2
Other System Joining RC2 : 192.168.0.3

I have an InterNet IP Which is Static. Lets Call This for example .... 50.50.50.50 (Example Only! )

So I have Opened the Dlink Config And Told it to "Port Redirect"
8767 UDP to 192.168.0.2 (Host). Reset The Router Hosted the Program. It also Says when i right Click on the TS Server Icon in your IP's Section my Internet ip and Lan IP.

I then would try to connect with machine 192.168.0.3 to the Internet IP 50.50.50.50 And it would say "No Reply From Server , Maybe The Server is not Hosting e.t.c"


I am Running XP Have XP firewall Turned Off.

If there are Some Dlink Users Out Here And have managed to Host TS I would like to talk to you very Much, over MSN perhaps.

So Please Tell Me What Am I Doing Wrong?????

To connect to the host from 192.168.0.3 dont use the Internet IP (External) you need to use the internal ip when behind a router i.e. 192.168.0.2.

Only people outside of you network will connect using the external ip.

Bit Stupid that the Router Doesnt Let you out of your Lan Then Back Again....

I believe some allow this (called loopback), but mine doesn't (Netgear FR314).

actually it is stupid to connect to the router IP interface and then mirror the traffic back to the LAN
It seems that a few router can handel this, but for sure it is not the ideal way to do it. It's allwys better to use the IP in the same subnet if this is possible (in your case it is cause server and host are in the same subnet).
