TS3 Whispering - Additional
Having read some of the features of TS3 Beta Release, from that it's unclear how flexible is the functionality for whispering. Considering the example of whispering "to channel" and whispering "to person", there requires to be a presence of "Group Leader" in a particular sub-channel group in order to communicate back to the "Main Leader" what is being said in the sub-channel. Which sort of limits the scenario.
If for example you have 2 groups of players competing in a match against each other, be it 5 each side or 15 (10 or 30 total) the organizer aka
"Main Leader" may for example want to hear both groups simultaneously or separately WITHOUT a "Group Leader" in one of the channels, which he cannot, without. Being able to talk to both channels separately is fine, but not hearing them is a bummer. This is taken from a real life scenario where we had up to 30 players in COD4 scrims of 2 groups or 4 groups playing simultaneously, and they had to be in separate channels (because they were competing against each other) and the war arranger would have to switch channels MANY, MANY times, before a match even started and during as-well. It is a very tedious task already to get so many people sorted and timed properly, especially when the matches are official rule-set and have prizes.
If perhaps there was an added ability to "listen on" or "eavesdrop" on particular channels, whether with a press of a button , or constantly, that would allow the "Main Leader" to be in a position/channel independent of location, and be able to hear all parties as he wishes. Making the task a lot easier and saving lots of time.
(Talking back to them is no problem, since devs added the "whisper to channel".)
Again this example was taken from a real life scenario, and that problem persists with TS2 until today.

It will be possible to be connected to the same server with mutliple ID's. So it will be possible to fix your situation if i understand it correctly.

Having browsed and read some suggestions from other users (like [KeH] TruB,holysmoke, m&m's) there are a few requests also for "between-channel" voice direction, as opposed to only "channel-2-user". When certain channels are like Parent-receive channels, whereby they transmit voice from other channels, (you can pick which) for example. And someone mentioned the problem with voice over, whereby people different channels will walk over another conversation. Well that problem could be migitated with sound reduction from other channels, by like 25%/50% so it's quiet if you're talking, yet still all are able hear it. Or client side buffer delay, whereby the root channel (you're in now) has priority to be heard first, then the rest of the other channels are buffered afterwards with a delay, the latter being more cumbersome and complicated.

I'm sorry, i guess i still don't understand the problem.
"main leader" can simply connect to the server as himself/herself and join the channels that they need to be able to hear in. It will even be possible to have channel A come in at say 100% and channel B come in at 50%. For example if "main leader" needs to hear Channels A, B, and C then they can join the server 3 times and be put in the respective channels.
Although i think keeping track of the conversations may be a little much but it could work.
Main leader hears everything in every channel. Everyone else hears just what's in their own channel.
PS. They can also get creative with 3d sound

Yes the explanation here is closer to it! "Main Leader" is just a term used from the features of TS3,
it could be just user, admin, superuser, whatever. So yes, for example this "Bloke" is in channel C, whereas other groups of peeps are in channels A, B, C respectively. So our "Bloke" can hear them all if he wishes, with a push-to-hear, or can hear them all the time. And whisper back to them, accordingly, to coordinate them. Although preferably with 1 connect to the server, for easy use sake. So it's like he can whisper to channel (already added feature) and "eavesdrop" from channel X.

Perhaps this could be done with a plugin.

Considering they're releasing the SDK, and if it's easily possible with a plugin, that means TS3 is truly rich.

I wouldn't consider it spying unless the name wasn't visable in the other channels. If you could place a ghost of yourself in each channel you want to listen too and be able to bind a key to each ghost... then how is it spying if someone can visually see that your presence is in that channel?

I tested this out just for you and there is a way to do this.

You need an identity for each channel you want to monitor. Then you need a bookmark for your server for each channel, with one identity being assigned to each bookmark. Then you can join the server using each bookmark in a different tab. Move each client into their respective channels and then you can hear what is going on in multiple channels at once. However your microphone can only be active in one channel at a time (unless you create a whisper to talk to multiple channels). Also note this will increase your local bandwidth usage and may degrade performance if you try to do this with too many channels at once.

I don't think this is really spying if your presence is known in the channel. It would be something like:
- Channel 1
- YourUsername
- User1
- User2
- User3
- Channel 2
- YourUsername(ListenOnly)
- User4
- User5
- User6
Make it a channel based permission like "allow channel observers" or something so that people can disable it if desired.
It is useful if you're coordinating things in games, and want to be able to listen in to your other team that are in the middle of objectives different than your own, so you don't wish to be fighting over who is speaking in the channel during critical moments.
