[HowTo] (Set up TS3 and) Server Permissions 100
Edited by mod: This method never was recommended, and since the changes to the default permissions of server admins that were done in the server beta5 they have become unnecessary. We strongly advise NOT to follow this guide, it does more harm than good.
UPDATE 25/12/09 - I've now done a Video of How to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FJo2dQvlys
This topic is for those that are having trouble understanding the documentation to set up a TS3 server and gain total administrative control over it.
This topic is not to debate the clarity of existing documentation on permissions - I think people have already gathered it could be a bit more clearer for wider audiences.

I'm using MySQL simply because I wanted to. If you're not wanting to use mysql then ignore the ts3db_mysql.ini and remove the lines starting with db from the ts3server.ini.
ts3db_mysql.ini
You should have a one blank line underneath database=databasename - important!Code:[config] host=localhost username=ts3 password=xJhD3KQ26mJbSWjN database=teamspeak3
ts3server.ini
Launch Shortcut Command Line: "C:\Program Files\Teamspeak3\ts3server_win32.exe" inifile=ts3server.iniCode:machine_id= default_voice_port=1337 voice_ip=91.192.210.47 licensepath= filetransfer_port=30033 filetransfer_ip=91.192.210.47 query_port=10011 query_ip=91.192.210.47 dbplugin=ts3db_mysql dbpluginparameter=ts3db_mysql.ini dbsqlpath=sql/ dbsqlcreatepath=create_mysql/ logpath=logs logquerycommands=1

If you done it right you'll see the above dialogue. Take note of the password, you'll only ever see it once.
Look in your logs directory for the log that has been created. Take note of the token which has been generated, you may only use it once.
http://forum.teamspeak.com/attachmen...1&d=1261327788
Launch the client and connect to the TS3 server.
http://forum.teamspeak.com/attachmen...1&d=1261327793
On the right hand view when click on a name you'll see a database ID, make a note of it.
http://forum.teamspeak.com/attachmen...1&d=1261328240
Then go to the permissions menu and click use token. Copy into the field that pops up the token generated within the log file.
http://forum.teamspeak.com/attachmen...1&d=1261328529
You should see in the console output at the bottom of your client that you are now a member of the Server Admins group. Level 75!
http://forum.teamspeak.com/attachmen...1&d=1261328511
Now launch the Server Query tool CTRL + SHIFT + V
Click the icon in the top right corner and select login command.
In the box enter your serveradmin password produced earlier.
At the bottom of the screen if you typed it right you should seelogin serveradmin PN7QBFeq
use sid=1
servergroupaddclient sgid=2 cldbid=2
Level 100!<16:47:32> "XXXX" was added to server group "Admin Server Query (2)" by "serveradmin from XXXX".
* Please don't post about me posting passwords. TS3 will be reinstalled by me and SQL password changed.
* Sometimes some clarification and information helps people. To those who have posted in various topics it's easy, etc, it took 10 minutes to do this!
* This guide uses BETA2: http://ftp.4players.de/pub/hosted/ts3/releases/Last edited by florian_fr40; 12-04-2012 at 08:34.

Very Very awesome post. It took me some fooling around and reading through the entire documentation before I could figure out how to do what you detailed in this how to. This should cut back on alot of questions reguarding this in the forums.
Should make this a sticky post.

You usually get that if you don't do the token step.
Confirm you have?

In permissions under server groups highlight server admin and make sure you are listed in the client window on the far right. Then go under the client section and make sure that the issue query commands from client(b_client_issue_client_query_command) is checked.
If you upgraded from beta one then the install did not go correctly and the DB was not updtated right you can follow the sql commands here http://forum.teamspeak.com/showpost....70&postcount=3 or just delete you Db and start new.Last edited by Hop; 21-12-2009 at 14:19.

FYI This will not grant you talk power of 100!
the Admin Server Query group dose not by default have any talk power.
However this is a necessary step to gain total control of the server.

So basically what your saying on the frisy above for the mysql , if we decide not to use it and use sqlite instead we should make an ini file for sqlite like the same step as mysql, if that is correct thanks becuase i didnt notice that at all which is very helpful, i read threw the doc's it mostly just goes threw the command line's for the server
