Updating from beta1 to beta2 to betaX

    Hi,
is it possible to update the running server by just replacing the .exe file?
I don't want the settings I made in beta1 deleted just by overwriting it with the files of a new version.

I don't unterstand what this topic says, perhaps it's the same question.

I would say you need to replace all the files so you don't miss any fixes that may be fixed thru the use of another file. As long as you keep the db file any channels and permissions you may have granted users should still be intact.

    At least, it shouldn't...
    Making a backup won't hurt.

I create a different folder; eg beta5, copy the new files into that, then copy your personal files from the old to the new; so the ini's and the license. Stop the server from the old path (beta4) and start from the new (beta5). In windows I use a batchfile to start the server with the necessary run commands.

It is have to be slightly different.
    1. Create Beta-<New> server folder.
    2. Shutdown Beta-<Old> server.
    3. Copy settings.
    4. Start new server.

Things 3&4 better done in a batch script for better speed.
