Unable to find valid license key

After finding solutions for nearly all my problems with TS3 here, i decided to register, cause theres one thing, i could not figure out until now and hope to get help here.

    first some info:

    OS: Windows 7
    TS3-Version: Beta3 Build 9419
    Used Database: sqlite

i *installed* the server to C:\ts3_server_beta3\
after getting my npo license i copied the licensekey.dat file into that directory as described in the docs

when i restart my ts-server know i'm still not able to increase the slot number or create a second virtual server
deleting the database or starting the server exe with administrator rights didn't help

i always get the error: "<19:05:12> max slot limit reached"
    the log file says:

so everything is fine, but it does not find the license key.

I also tried to create the server ini write the path to the licensefile in it and start the server with this ini, but nothing helped.
always this: "Unable to find valid license key" in the logs.

Hope i provided all necessary information.
Does anybody has the same problem and an idea how to fix?

maybe interresting: i opened the license file and it seems to be completly encrypted, but i read in several forums that (in older license files??) only the licensekey itself is encrypted and not the rest, but i can imagine that tritoncia had change that

    Hey EvilSheep,

I had the same problem. It turns out that indeed, a correct license file looks somewhat like this:
    Code:

So it seems like your e-mail client, like mine, didn't decode the license file correctly (File attachments are normally encoded in some way for easy E-Mail transfer; in this case, the encoding is called base64).

If you had that license sent to a Gmail account, try to view it in the web interface, copy everything (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C) from there and paste it into a new file. Save this file as licensekey.dat, copy it to your server folder and restart your TS3 server. Did the trick for me.

Otherwise, you can try the following: Open the (broken) licensekey.dat with notepad, cut everything from there, and paste it here. This is an online base64 decoder. Click on run, copy the whole result, and paste it into a new file. Save that one, put it into your Teamspeak Server folder and call it licensekey.dat. Restart your server and hope it worked.

    Best regards,
    Stalker

I still got the same problem, but your solution doesn't work for me.
I'm running the server on Debian 4.1.2-25 x64 (Kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64/2.6.26-19lenny2).

upgrade to beta9 (fresh install) and see if that helps, check with notepad whether the file gets copied correctly. (still looks the same)

Secondly put your license key in the same folder as the ts3 binary, then you don't need to enter a path. (and that can't be the problem then either)

If that all fails, do you have a firewall running and have port 2009 (if said correctly) tcp open, its one of the lower 200x series of ports.

    I got the same problem!

"Unable to find valid license key, falling back to limited functionality"

My Licensekey.dat contains only a bunch of numbers and letters. I think its only the key. Could this be the reason of the Problem? If the answer is yes what should I do?

    Thanks

    ok get it to work!

Apple Mail broke the file. This could be a good hint for all Mac Users: NEVER USE APPLE MAIL FOR .DAT ATTACHMENTS!

Now I'am simply happy It works without problems

    workaround...

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as described above...
for everyone whos licensekey.dat file contains only a large block of numbers and letters like:

    SGksIEkgaGF2ZSBleGFjdGx5IHRoZSBzYW1lIHByb2JsZW0gYX MgZGVzY3JpYmVkIGFib3ZlLi4uIGZvciBldmVyeW9uZSB3aG9z IGxpY2Vuc2VrZXkuZGF0IGZpbGUgY29udGFpbnMgb25seSBhIG xhcmdlIGJsb2NrIG9mIG51bWJlcnMgYW5kIGxldHRlcnMgbGlr
    ZTo=

copy the whole Text Block and paste them here:
    http://www.patshaping.de/projekte/kleinkram/base64.php

check "Decodieren" and press the button...
now you can copy the uncoded text und paste them in a new licenskey.dat file
you need to insert new lines to make it look like the correct license file posted above.
