Thumbs down [Solved] TS3 Beta 7 crashes when starting

    Hello boys, girls and undefined,

when trying to start TS3 on my x86 system, it first issues those messages:

    Code:
    2009-12-26 15:27:34.915245|INFO |MPSingleton | | Detected local codeset to be: UTF-8
    2009-12-26 15:27:34.918201|INFO | | | Logging started, clientlib version: 3.0.0-beta7 [Build: 9525]
    2009-12-26 15:27:35.743597|INFO |ClientUI | | Failed to init text to speech engine: 3584
    2009-12-26 15:27:35.743772|INFO |ClientUI | | TeamSpeak 3 client version: 3.0.0-beta7 [Build: 9525]
    2009-12-26 15:27:35.752063|INFO |ClientUI | | Qt version: 4.5.3
    2009-12-26 15:27:35.752137|INFO |ClientUI | | Using configuration location: /home/ionic/.ts3client/ts3clientui_qt.conf
    And exits afterwards.

I can see a segfault occurring in strace and gdb, but I was not able to find out why. It is obviously related to Qt 4.5. Anyways, that's all I got:

    Code:
    0x70704133 in ?? ()
    (gdb) bt full
    #0 0x70704133 in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.
    #1 0xb6f0947c in ?? () from /usr/lib/qt4/libQtGui.so.4
    No symbol table info available.
    #2 0xbfd8d954 in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.
    #3 0x09b93770 in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.
    #4 0xffffffff in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.
    #5 0x00000400 in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.
    #6 0xbfd8d0d4 in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.
    #7 0x00000000 in ?? ()
    No symbol table info available.

Also, please tell me whether you have removed OSS support or not. The failing speech initializing might very well indicate this. In this case, I urge or raise the plead to re-implement OSS out- and input again.

Thank you for all further replies.

    Best regards,

    Mihai

    [Edit1]Also happened with Beta 5.[/Edit1]

    Hi,

the issue was fixed by preloading the libraries provided by you.

OSS seems to be working fine, so far.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

sorry, but I do not understand your reply.

As I have already posted before, the issue was fixed by using the bundled Qt libraries instead of the system libraries.

Obviously, TeamSpeak 3 (whatever beta version, even the most recent one) relies on the specially built Qt libraries distributed by the TeamSpeak team.

The "normal" system libraries are making TeamSpeak3 crash due to unresolved symbols or unknown functions.

In either way, I would not regard this as a bug, but more a limiting inconvience.

By not being able to use the system's Qt libraries, users can't use their defined Qt styles but have to live with the stock clearlook style.

It would be cool to see TeamSpeak3 using the system's Qt libs, which will also "fix" other problems reported on this forum (i.e. users are not able to use their default Qt skin/style/whatever), but it is not an actual bug.

    Best regards,

    Mihai

I guess you must have missed the whole concept of own themes for TS3? There's actually a few bundled in the release. If you don't like them, make your own and contribute, might be more people that likes your theme.
