    Security of Voice-Communication and File-Transfers

I'm pretty sure this was discussed before but I wasn't able to find it with a quick search (using privacy, encryption and security as keywords) - if that question has already been answered and you know where, I'll be happy with a link:

We're considering using TeamSpeak to do voice-communications and file-transfers of somewhat sensitive data, and I was wondering what level of privacy/security TeamSpeak 3 offers. I don't believe there's anything like "totally secure" (unless one disconnects oneself from the Interwebs completely ... and even then you have the issue with humans ;-) ) - but it would still be nice if, given everything is set up correctly, it at least was "reasonably difficult" for someone for instance to eavesdrop on the voice-communications or file-transfers.

Is my understanding correct, that the unique user-id is also used for encryption? And if so: Would you say that's "a little secure", "pretty secure" or "unhackable unless one invests significant resources (or has access to an authorized user's computer ;-) )"? And: Would that only be used for voice-communication, or also for the file-transfers?

Doing a more "in-depth" search, I just found some information on this in Voice Encryption:

Because of these concerns for BIG TS3 servers we will probably disable the encryption of voice data (or make it configurable). The command and control packets are and will stay encrypted of course, so you can't snoop into the login process or decode text messages etc.

    Hey,

currently the situation is as follows:

Voice, Command etc. data (everything that goes through the UDP port) is encrypted as said in that quote of myself.

Files that are transfered are not encrypted.
You think my answer is stupid ? Read This:

Hi Peter, thanks for that info! Do you have any plans to encrypt file-transfers as well at some point in time?
